I live right near Philly and have my entire life... my whole moms side of the family, all big Philly fans. So I've followed Doug closely, every eagles game is a big deal in my household.
Do I think Doug could be a decent hire? Sure.
but he undoubtedly had a really rough year this season. His play calling was very shaky, and many in the Philly area attribute their super bowl run to OC Frank Reich, who left the eagles to become coach of the colts.
With that said I don't think Doug is an asshole. He doesn't have a very strong personality or anything, he's just kinda bleh, but he's not an asshole. I was disgusted at them throwing that game to end the year, but that call was obviously coming from up top. He probably thought it'd help his job security if he helped secure a better draft pick. Guess the joke is on him.
with all this said no I don't want Doug. But many Jets fans are having meltdowns online at the idea of it. I wouldn't be devastated, he just wouldn't be my choice. If they do hire him, there are some positives that I could get behind. He's a very aggressive offensive minded coach, which would be a breath of fresh air, because Gase was such, excuse my language, a pussy. He never took any chances he just would lie down when faced with any tough decision. Doug will go down swinging. I like that. It's time we start getting coached like we believe we can win. But no, I'd rather go in a different direction.
but some of the other names getting floated around don't get me too excited either. I was on the Daboll train, but honestly I thought he called a shit game this past weekend. they probably lose that game if Indy didn't make some terrible situational mistakes. Josh Allen had to bail out Daboll, who was questionably not calling plays to his QBs strength. So some of the shine has come off with him.
bienemy? I just don't know... he's also an Andy Reid disciple just like Doug. We'll see what happens
also, go Justin fields!
