283rd recruit that averaged 9pts a game in HS. No thanks.

Not sure if the staff would be interested in bringing him here, rumors are he got in trouble with something alcohol related (keep in mind this just rumors).

I know the first thing people are going to look at is he stats, I can't think of a better example of stats not telling the whole story. Gabe was an energy guy, kinda like a Draymond Green, when he got on the court the team just played with so much more pep. He was by far the best on ball defender at the forward position and he led the team in charges taken, he just hounds guys on the defensive end. Gabe actually earned his way into the starting lineup the last few games of the season. He was one of the guys I was most excited about returning, I thought all signs were leading to him having a breakout year this coming season. Also, another quality about Gabe is he's extremely versatile, he can legit guard positions 2-5. CMA frequently had him guarding the other team's 5 and just have him get under their skin, he's athletic and has long enough reach where he doesn't give up much at all playing at the 4 or 5.

If CMA checks out what happened to him for his dismissal and it wasn't anything that serious, I think he'd be a good pick-up this late in the game, if they can't find a quality big that that's eligible this season. If Gabe came here, I have little doubt that he'd either start or play major minutes here next year, he can play.

Re: above post
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas has dismissed forward Gabe Osabuohien from the men’s basketball program.

Coach Eric Musselman announced the move Thursday without disclosing the reason.

“We have set a level of expectations for our student-athletes on and off the court,” Musselman said. “After discussions with Gabe, it was decided that it would be best to part ways. We thank him for his time at Arkansas and wish him well.”

The 6-foot-8 Osabuohien was born in Toronto but played at Little Rock’s Southwest Christian Academy. He played in 54 games with eight starts in two seasons with Arkansas. He scored 128 points (2.4 per game) and had 136 rebounds (2.5).

Does a player that gets kicked off his team have to sit out a year?

Yes he still has to transfer. But that would be an interesting scenario.

Hey coach, I'm not feeling it here but I don't want to sit out a year. Please kick me off the team...

He could argue that new coach wanted his own players and squeezed him out over something he shouldn't have been squeezed out for.

Wouldn't problem there be former school not supporting reason for the waiver? Maybe that only matters for the hardship waiver...

I don't like spreading to rumors, especially if they haven't been confirmed by someone I trust, but just for those that are curious, people are saying he got caught stealing alcohol.

Nobody really has any details other than that, so I don't know how much and to what degree and if this was his first time or any of that, but that's the word around Arkansas what happened.

Is it me, or is WVU getting WAAAYY more play with high level kids, transfers and everything else. I’m not saying that this is one of those kids, but something is a bit odd as I see them involved a lot more than usual.

Just odd because Huggs has won a million games yet I’ve never noticed them to be a top destination. I’m not questioning Huggs himself. Maybe it’s just me, but they’ve picked up their recruiting all of a sudden it seems. That’s all.

As Moose said a hall of fame Coach, told a lovely campus and a great atmosphere to play ball, great conference, recruits jucos and risky kids for lack of a better term, kids the blue chips schools do not recruit, I don’t see any reason for them not to win successfully.

I haven’t been on campus but driven thru on the highway and Morgantown is in the middle of nowhere! Worse than Storrs.
