One of my Bronx connections told me a month ago that he was probably ours for the taking. But that was before coach was hired.[/quote]

If it was when Mullin was coach I would be skeptical of that. Since IW and Sidney Wilson were very close and the way Wilson left here and we didn't help his waiver cause.

That being said I think Iona is probably the perfect level for IW. Let him go and do his jellyfam flashy stuff there.

The star on that kid has faded badly.

The idea of him being ours to get was based on Ckuess coming. He is a great kid working hard to regain his confidence and his jumper. He will do great at Iona.

Tough get for Johnnies I sense re Thornton

The Zags need a seasoned PG as well. IMO they'll be very tough to beat for this west coast kid.
Hope we have a plan B.
Wonder if that kid Dorsey is being considered?
Was once recruited by staff outta HS, but haven't seen St. John's on his list this time around.
Also curious if staff thinks GW Jr., can make the leap to PG next year and team with McGriff?
Dunno.

It unfortunate that when Mullin left, he left almost nothing in the cupboard for us here except upperclassmen, and now we are late and behind the 8-ball. Can’t hang out hat on Thornton who seems to favor staying out west at least by perception. These are the perils of not recruiting any high school talent to this team. It set us up for a rebuild. There’s not much left out there. We have some nice upperclassmen back, but even if we land a very good 2020 class, this is still gonna be a rebuild because of our lack of talented underclassmen on the roster. No magic pills here unfortunately.

College of Southern Idaho forward Khalid Thomas will not join the Texas Tech men’s basketball team, he confirmed via text. The 6-9 athlete, who verbally committed back in October, suffered foot injury and returned to the court. Averaged 8.6 pts, 4.5 rebs in 16 games played.

Khalid Thomas ranked #12/Top 100 2019 JUCOs.
AZ, MO &bunch of high-major others had been pursuing him with TT.
4* ranked it seems.
Interesting player.

Story on him via Oregon perspective:

Curious, because Oregon seems loaded with Top 2019 4* & 1 5* forwards, but the rich get richer I guess. Lol.

Rodney Howard’s decision to back out of Ole Miss this week came as a bit of a surprise. The Georgia native who spent this year at Legacy Charter in South Carolina committed early to the Rebels and Kermit Davis. With him back on the open market, high-major schools looking to add a big man late are all over him.

On Wednesday night, Howard told me Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, LSU, Miami, Nevada, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, St. John’s, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin had already reached out within hours of him decommitting. He’s already set an official visit to Georgia Tech for May 25-26. Keep an eye on Georgia and South Carolina in this one, too. The Bulldogs were involved the first time around, although he committed shortly after Tom Crean took over, and the Gamecocks have his close friend and Legacy Charter teammate Jalyn McCreary signed already.

There are exceptions, of course, but I've always believed point guards are born, not made.

You may be right, red. GW Jr has been mentioned previously as a possible PG ‘part-timer’ maybe at some point in the future, so just wondering if/when Staff would consider it.
