2019 Coaching Changes

Wow, Hardaway is such a big name that he won't even need to recruit. With 3 NBA stars on staff recruits will be lining up to come play here. Just make some TMC ads and we're set for next year and beyond.

(In fairness, Hardaway at least does have some AC experience. I just don't see him going all out on the recruiting trail like the person he would be replacing.)

I’m not sure if you guys are joking about Tim Hardaway but that actually would be a good hire. What a lot of people ignore is that Tim Hardaway has actual real life coaching experience.

-He’s was an Assistant NBA coach with the Pistons for 3 years I believe.

-He was a volunteer Assistant coach with the Miami heat under Eric spolestra and Pat Riley and Spolestra both gave him high remarks for his player development.

Hardaway specializes in Player development BTW.

Coaching in the NBA is vastly different than coaching in college, as it has been very evident over the last 4 years!

I'd actually be good with Hardaway if GSJ was also leaving. As it stands we are only replacing one AC and I doubt Hardaway will recruit like Matt.

WHere? The only member of the staff who sat on an NBA bench was GSJ and that was two years as assistant player development coach way down the bench in Sacramento. Don't confuse CM's Golden State jobs with coaching.

And the thing that makes TH un-hirable in most circles actually aligns him with the church.

There is a former NBA player that has college coaching experience and even made the tournament. We should look at him.

Our coach didn’t have Nba Coaching experience. Vast difference from Hardaway who actually learned the 1-4 offense from Stan Van Gundy and learned from Erick Spolestra ( A Real championship coach).

Man, you know things are bad when we can't even detect sarcasm in a post.
My questions are: What is happening behind closed doors about the state of the program: the coaching staff, departures/replacements; the roster, departures/replacements?
If Matt is indeed ‘gone’, is Mullin seeking out at least 1 recruiter to replace him?
Are talks ongoing with the players?
And a statement: I thought Mullin would meet with his Staff early this week and then meet with the AD.
What’s the status with that?
What is going on with the program?
If Matt leaves, which is probable, Mullin will seek out a recruiter. Can’t have 0 recruiters. Lol

Wake me when there's some actual news on staff/player shakeout (other than Shamorie leaving which was a foregone conclusion). Endless speculation is even more torturous than re-watching the last 5 games of the season consecutively would be, lol...
Thankfully we have baseball & March Madness to distract us from SJU basketball drama.
As SS&G would say, all the best.

Maybe we'll be the first school to field all walk-ons. :cheer:

It’s going to be a long April Fools day for many on this board!

There is a crazy rumor going around per a friend in Louisville that starts with Buzz leaving Tech to go to TAM and ends with a series of dominoes that includes a MAAC and BE school....

Willard to Louisville, and Cluess to Seton Hall, makes the most sense, logically.

EDIT: That actually makes no sense at all. Forget what I just wrote.

It doesn't include SJU but you are going to have to guess after that...
Any reason why Johnny Dawkins doesn't get a look?
He is evidently by Vanderbilt...

Obviously coaching at Duke under K and then at Stanford as HC gives him a strong background in recruiting for very high standard academic institutions.

The downside is his record as a HC is very pedestrian. Lots of NIT appearances only 2 NCAA appearances at UCF and Stanford.
