2019 Coaching Changes

I think it would be hard for the universities with vacancies right now to beat Marshall's current salary (assuming this is correct). I'm sure Marshall can write his own ticket though.

Trust me SEC schools like Bama and TAM can more than match that. Question is are they good enough for him to leave. Bama tried to lure him 4 years ago and settled on Johnson.

Hoiberg is supposedly getting $3+ million from Nebraska and will move way up the list.

Lavin to SF? Kidding....

Maybe Bay Area native Greg St Jean? And then Marillac wins the bet
Interesting I remember when he was here at Columbia. Decent job with 2 difficult jobs. So he likes challenges...

BTW-Looks like they will hire his assistant to replace him at San Fran per Goodie:

Well that ruins the fun

Chicago, do you really expect a "home run" hire when we have a "small ball" administration?

I'd settle for a solid single with a young aggressive coach who can stretch it into a double or maybe even a triple.
I bet we can get Shaheen Holloway for like $350k
Honestly. Smart young coach who can recruit. Not the worst idea in the world. Maybe not Mark Few but he’d hire good assistants I think. I want a young and hungry coach.

Plus... it would absolutely destroy Hall fans if we hired him and he did an amazing job at SJU. I’d give it a go just for that...?
Honestly, I like him. I'd be shocked if he wasn't SHU next coach. Although, I biased because I've met him a couple times and he was nice enough to pose with my nephew and Isiah Whitehead for some pictures.

He's a maximum effort guy. We definitely could do worse.

Three Mill to coach Nebraska?!?! Sheesh, we are in the wrong line of work.

TJ Otzelberger to UNLV? Per Rothstein. Interesting connection to Matt A. Was a top assistant to Fred Hoiberg at Iowa St along with Matt and more than Matt is credited with securing a lot of the key talent there. Left for Washington and Lorenzo Romar and was considered a top assistant. Then interestingly came back to Iowa St and Hoiberg in April of 2015 to replace Matt A who left for SJU but then Fred got the Bulls job. TJ stayed on for 1 season under Prohm before getting the South Dakota St job. Now after 3 years headed to Vegas:

Good thought, he grew up there.

Regionally it makes sense. Coached at North Dakota St and Nebraska.

What's interesting is to hear Bill Moos the Nebraska AD explain what he expects from his MBB program. He simply stated he expected them to compete for B10 titles. Nebraska has very little recent successful history like that, so what? Yet we're told that SJU recent history lends itself to simply accept an 8-10 season as successful...
Mind boggling that Jay Wright only makes a little more than our coach
________

.... particularly since Coach Wright has assumed a high profile position at Villanova beyond the customary duties of a men's basketball coach.

Nebraska will never consistently compete for Big Ten titles. That is hysterical. Hoiberg will long gone from Nebraska within four years. That is a stepping stone. The second Prohn falters he’s back in Ames.

Prohm just got an extension from ISU today

I was thinking that just yesterday after googling Miles and learning where he was from. Seemed like it was only a matter of time before Otzelberger moved on, but didn't realize TJ would be connected to a job so soon.

State school with major resources can attempt to do that. We can't even afford to buy out Mullin.

Honestly I'm guessing that we can but choose not to especially after Slice fiasco. I know we have a reputation for being poor but we really aren't. We have a nice TV contract with FOX, we get tourney credits for Nova carrying us every year, we have record attendance, etc. You would think we had the budget of CW Post the way some people make it seem. Sure we can't match Alabama, but we surely aren't some no name mid major. We are somewhere in between. Not rich but upper middle class. If the big donors want influence, let them buy Mullin out and put their guy in.

Well then you should eb hired as their AD and tell them that.

But my guess is they don't care what you think and that is why they fired Miles...

My guess is also if you applied for the job at Nebraska you would have to make them aware of your other prognostications such as you didn't think Duke had much of a chance of beating SJU without Tre Jones, you hoped SJU would be matched up with Virginia in the NCAA's...Or that you wouldn't pursue the transfer from Ark-Little Rock because he is on his 3rd school...Transfer U.

Just a hunch...don't hold me to it.

To buy out Mullin, you would need to get 40 donors in a room and have each of them shell out $100,000 for the sole purpose of getting Mullin out early. I don't see that happening. Far more likely, IMO, is that those donors take the approach that Mullin created this situation, let HIM pay the consequences for a year more. As much as we fans may hate it, I don't see one more bad year as permanently destroying the program's ability to resurrect itself moving forward. Plus, it gives Cragg another year to search for a solid replacement.
