2019 Coaching Changes

Chicago, do you really expect a "home run" hire when we have a "small ball" administration?

Mike Anderson fired at Arkansas.

169-102 in 8 years. 3 tournaments.

Kelvin Sampson already mentioned.

I'd settle for a solid single with a young aggressive coach who can stretch it into a double or maybe even a triple.

SEC not f'ing around, 4 vacancies.
I mean he's only won 65 percent of his games in his career

I mentioned this before. Mike Slive former commissioner a few years ago told his members to start getting serious about basketball.

Look at the recent hires, Pearl, Howland, Crean. Look who is being targeted for the current openings, Buzz, Kelvin Sampson, Thad Matta, even Pitino.

They don't want to take chances.

If the Big East is power 6 then I ask you this: would any other power conference basketball program allow 32 games under .500 in 4 years in conference play plus zero conference tourney success despite tons of talent/experience and then keep the coach another year for a guaranteed no show year where St. Thomas Aquinas would kill us again? Mullin is operating on a totally different standard than any coach in the nation. Objectively he'd be fired in a millisecond in most power programs.

As a follow-up to UNLV firing Marvin Menzies, at least six Rebels are in the transfer portal, including the forward we previously offered. Most of these guys could play in Big East, but only one could play immediately.

Well they are doing pretty great. 1/4 of the Sweet Sixteen is no joke. ACC also has 5 left, Big Ten has 3. Tough year for Cinderellas

I bet we can get Shaheen Holloway for like $350k
Is this the year Gregg Marshall of Wichita St bolts for a high major job.
Alabama?

Kyle Smith from San Fran to Wash St

Lavin to SF? Kidding....

Maybe Bay Area native Greg St Jean? And then Marillac wins the bet

Honestly. Smart young coach who can recruit. Not the worst idea in the world. Maybe not Mark Few but he’d hire good assistants I think. I want a young and hungry coach.

Plus... it would absolutely destroy Hall fans if we hired him and he did an amazing job at SJU. I’d give it a go just for that...?

No red, I don’t.
I don’t expect a HC change.
I was just responding to Tom Bradley’s petitiIon for the ‘home run’ hire to be Pitino and propping other names.
But I’d be shocked if CM steps down or leaves this Spring.
More realistically hoping MC can pressure Mully to make needed Staff changes and to rapidly move on a hire to replace Matt should he jump ship, with more Staff changes needed beyond that...as unlikely as all that may be as well.

Interesting I remember when he was here at Columbia. Decent job with 2 difficult jobs. So he likes challenges...

BTW-Looks like they will hire his assistant to replace him at San Fran per Goodie:
