2019 Coaching Changes

I know our finances aren’t great ( even though they’ve improved) but if cal ( who is broke as hell) could fire their coach and hire a new one we can as well.

He got 2 years....

Good assistant candidate though...
Evidently they will target Jason Kidd...
Smart move. Hiring a great alum always works out.

Lol.
Vaguely recall CM ‘recruiting’ Kidd for SJU when he (Mully) played for the Warriors.

Maybe Cal will accept credits from his anger management classes.

“Should Hoiberg take the job, he'll need some solid assistants and two names immediately stick out. First, Matt Abdelmassih — who already worked as an assistant coach under Hoiberg at Iowa State — has spent about a half-decade in New York at St. John's and things aren't very rosy. Under head coach Chris Mullin, the Red Storm have gone 38-60 over the past three seasons and lost in the First Four of this year's NCAA Tournament. The opportunity to join Hoiberg at a Big Ten school with excellent facilities and a devoted fan base would seem an extremely enticing offer. Said Torres on the possibility of Abdelmassih reuniting with Hoiberg, "He is the exact guy they need. [He] is plugged into the transfer market and will upgrade the Cornhuskers' talent immediately."

38-60 was actually Mullin's record through his first three years here. His record, over the last three years, is 51-49.

Now, that's obviously nothing to write home about, but it would be nice if the writer of the article can get his facts right.
Assuming Matt leaves Chris should be the ultimate troll on Matt and rehire Slice...
Rehire slice?
Aren't we still paying the guy? Just tell him to get back on the sidelines, if he refuses then SJU should stop paying him for refusing to do his job.

With all due respect to Matt A, isn't it sad that the immediate future of the St. John's program is dependent on an assistant coach? I guess that's what happens when only 1 out of 4 coaches actually recruit.

The adage of “all eggs in one basket” in this instance has a number of negatives.

Maybe we should offer to take him back. When he refuses perhaps we can stop paying him. If he accepts that may be the Mullin solution.

It doesn't work that way. There was a Settlement Agreement and such agreements don't include a clause that says "if we change our minds, you have to come back or we stop paying you.."

Well I got one suggestion then, stop with the long term contracts. We always seem to get screwed in the end anyway, may 4 yes to.
If they dont like it then tell them bye and on to the next

Does anyone know about when we will start to hear players plans? I know typically the staff will meet with each player regarding their future and the program.

I want some of the dominoes to start falling so we have a better idea of where the program is. So much speculation and just one of two defections or confirmations can sway the health of the program.

Figueroa, Steere, and Caraher will be here. Wow, good thing we'll be able to fill in 10 holes via transfer market thanks to Ma . . .
