2019-20

Does Mullin know he should be calling Mr. Williams to discuss his vision for Greg next year? Not because of the tweet, but because that's what coaches do.

Perhaps he has....I honestly don't know. Perhaps Chris totally gets it and has been feverishly reaching out to his players, their parents and Matt.........I honestly don't know.

I do know that he gives off the impression that he is just not that hungry and shouldn't have to make those calls.

Matt’s departure would be a stunning development.
I do not wish to impugn Mullin but coming at this time, it would have to have major consequences, since it endangers the program’s immediate future.

I think so.. cuz Shamorie had someone using his user name while he was doing a live feed earlier.. so it seems like someone is fkn around with these guys

I have to agree. Matt is likely the sole contact for almost all of our recruits. We recently learned from Andre Curbelo that Mullin had yet to talk to him. If he's not involved with Curbelo, I can't imagine he is in on too many others. We know Mitch does not recruit and St. Jean just dabbles. If Matt leaves, we need to start the rebuild from zero again. Why wait.

I truly am stunned that this is unfolding. That our program could be 100% reliant on 1 guy and that guy is likely leaving us at a ‘perfect storm’ moment with the roster about to blow up is unbelievable.
How could this be happening?

Tempting to always think the sky is falling as a Johnny fan. I get it. But what good does it do at the end of the day? Let's see how things shake out. Time enough then to wring our hands. It can't wind up much worse than folks are speculating...

Our new AD seems nothing but experienced, motivated and capable of running a very successful program. How about we just give him a break and some time and a little courtesy.
All the best.

The key word is ‘if’.
Nobody is saying the ‘sky is falling’, but guys are pointing to very dark clouds on the horizon and saying ‘whoa’.
Why is that either ‘wringing’ our hands or not giving our new AD time to act?
All I’m saying is that if Matt is about to leave and if our roster is about to undergo 3-5 departures beyond Ponds and Heron—both of which look likely-to very possible at this point—that would be a major event, and one of 2 things must happen over the next month, imo.
Mullin must leave and the staff be totally rebooted, or Mullin stays but the supporting staff is completely revamped.
Out of loyalty to Chris, I’d prefer he stay and the staff be revamped if this were about to occur, even though it might be best longer term for a total coaching staff reboot at this point.
But, geech, I do not see this as ‘wringing our hands’ or foolishly saying the sky is falling...if it looks like it may well be.
I call that prudently discussing ‘what-ifs’.

If nebraska loses in the NIT , Hoiberg is gonna be named coach. It's a done deal. Matt and Fred came up together in the Twolves front offices before the Iowa St connection. Connecting the dots isn't Einstein?

Have a strong feeling Matt leaves. Things are tumultuous enough here as it is. If your status at work hinges solely on the performance of your boss who frankly is not meeting expectations, then one would think it’s a no-brainer to get a fresh contract and start over with a new boss who you already have had success with.

Nebraska just lost in NIT, so Miles will be fired and Hoiberg hired this week if press reports correct.

See ya, don’t care. He was brought in to recruit he got some transfers desperate to prove themselves and failed. That along w recruiting a cross dresser criminal and trying to flirt w LSU and complete lack of coaching he can go. We can under achieve without him

Here’s my issue. IF true that Matt is leaving and IF true that our roster is about to take a major hit—because or not because of Matt leaving—I’m gonna take issue with that.
As much as I luv Mullin the player and have supported and still support Mullin the coach, it’s horrific ‘management’ to allow that to happen in a major corporation or a major college basketball program.
If true, this puts us in the ditch, behind the bullseye, and in the crosshairs of misery.
I’m not wringing my hands or crying that the ‘sky is falling’ because even if this is true, we can come back and if we play it smart we will.
I’m just pissed that—if true—this has come to pass.

In any business if you are relying all on one manager or sales person or client to do virtually all your sales you will fail we’ve been complaining about this since year 2

To me, this is even bigger than the team's record. It's true that we have been complaining about this (and lack of a big man) for two years. Our big man concerns were validated as we watched a very talented roster collapse when it counted the most. Now, we are dangerously close to seeing our second concern (just one recruiter) destroy any program momentum we may have had. I don't know if it's inexperience, stubbornness or arrogance; but Chris is responsible for what may be a sinking ship.

If Matt leaves, Mullin should be tired in the spot. Matt is our only contact to recruits on the entire staff. Matt leaves and we have nobody. This has been total mismanagement by Mullin to begin with. Time to move on with an entire new staff. Most schools have 3 recruiters including the head head so if one leaves, there are still guys with good connections. We have zero. Honestly. Time to move on from this experiment. Best time to look for new coaches is right now.
