Would hiring a female assistant be out of the question? I'm not larping on a feminist soapbox. I actually can't stand that stuff but...

1. Would increase the talent pool to include all of NCAAW and WNBA.
2. Some are very good at job.
3. This cross gender stuff is going to happen anyway, as Condolleeza Rice was recently mentioned as suitable coaching candidate for Cleveland.
4. Plenty of dudes used to coach college women.
5. Would generate enormous positive press (because all the press really responds to these days is wokeness, lack of wokeness, etc.)

It's an idea, one that I'll admit is somewhat unpalatable. But that's arguably the whole point of their movement anyway. Why wait for the inevitable.

Hoping your feelings are right, all depends who stays and goes still, my fingers are crossed!
Here's an unpopular choice but I hope when Matt goes that Simon and Heron goes, then hopefully Chris won't want to deal with a crap season and he steps down. Yes, we'll suck next year, but you gotta think that Cragg will get the next HC right. Get the ball started a year earlier then a year later.

So you want them to hire a woman because you don't agree with equality? Makes perfect sense.

Where do you get that out of what I posted? And what does my sensemaking - either good or bad - have to do with the idea proposed?

You've offered nothing in the respect to the idea itself. It's a viable idea. We have few remaining options. A fanbase that is a manic depressive nightmare. There are benefits to what I proposed, regardless of your stance on it politically. There is MUCH to be debated about equity based hiring, equality of outcome and its basis in Marxism.

But the equity/gender inclusion debate has been lost. Right or wrong it is lost. Might as well reap the benefits before some other team does. Whatever. It's pointless to discuss anything with some of you on here. This is the absolute most idiotic fanbase in sports.

Wasn't suggesting Pinckney over a former HC like Pecora, but rather in addition to him.

Scoring 4 touchdowns in one game is still pretty damn impressive
Yeah but those 4 touchdowns are our “heyday”, while other teams have been running it up the middle on us and leaving us in the dust for decades...

Understand your point but he does check a lot of boxes.
-NBA coaching
-college coaching
-recruiting
-Area ties
-big man skills
-comfortability with CM
We have enough NBA guys. Ed would be an upgrade over Mitch for sure but we need someone with a 10-20 years of college experience. There are so many lessons the staff has to learn and it’d be nice if some of those didn’t have to come from mistakes. That’s why I like guys like Rice, Pecora, or the ultimate choice Calhoun.
Agree. I wonder how relevant Pinkney's recruiting contacts are now, 12 years after he left the college game. Also, I disagree that "comfotability with CM" is a positive. We need a change of direction, not more of the same.

For me, of the names mentioned, I like Phelps and Hsu.
Don't dismiss "comfortability" so quickly. We've already seen what happens when there's a lack of it between the HC and an AC, and we ended up paying heavily for it -- something like four years of weak recruiting, plus millions of dollars.
That was entirely due to Matt A. He's Littlefinger from G.O.T. He does it everywhere he goes. Let's see what happens at Nebraska.

Do you really think we are in a position to experiment and breakdown barriers? At least one of our mentally ill fans would get locked up if we had a female assistant based on what is written on twitter. We can't even have female posters on these forums. A female assistant?!

This was back in the first several years of the site :)

I've been posting since I was 16. I've had several girlfriends since then and every single one of them made fun of me for posting here. They don't understand it at all.

I invited one of my female friends to join the Mets Facebook group I am in with you and Baldi as well as a few others and she received DMs from like 100 guys in the first two days. She had to leave. Guys are creepy in general but our worst tend to out-do the worst from other teams. We'd be a 1 seed in that bracket :)

Pepband definitely hit on a what was presumed to be a female poster.

Realfan pretended to be a woman on one of the sites after being banned. Not sure if it was this one.

Tha Kid's wife pretended to be a male poster to play a joke on her husband. Apparently got to the point where he went to Paul about some creepy poster stalking him, I believe.

And Cam's mom is here sometimes.

Actually, statistically, it’s only a matter of time before one of our male posters becomes a female poster(biologically). Not judging. Just sayin’
