2019-20
May have been said before but once ponds leaves I think next year will be a lot better. Amazing player and kid but seems to have a big ego. Good role players will help big time especially if heron and Simon stay. Last thing more structure from mullin is needed next year for the new guys. I firmly believe the issue this year was essentially having kids do whatever they want.
Main problem is the kids dont listen as I have heard from a high source

I'm with it!
It's lonely on this side.

Can someone please clarify: are Simon and Heron both eligible to transfer to another school after this season and be eligible to play immediately?

Assuming completion of class work, Simon could go grad transfer route.

I would also assume Heron if he leaves would turn pro somewhere.

Thanks. Do you know if Heron could likewise transfer to another school and not sit out?

He is only a Junior and has never redshirted, so no.

I hope both Simon and Heron return. This constant rebuilding is getting ridiculous and wearing.

So then Simon I would assume is going to be heavily courted by other programs as an immediately eligle transfer. After all, he was Big East defensive player of the year.

Since Heron has fewer options to transfer, and presumably wants to stay close to his mother, the key is get him on board for next year and hope he can convince Simon to stay as well.

So it looks like Figgy may be the only returning starter. I really hope Simon and Heron return. I suspect Ponds is gone regardless.

How we are positioned for next year will depend greatly on Simon and Heron. If both return, we're actually in decent shape. If one returns, I think we take a step back. If both leave, I would imagine we will be predicted to finish last place in the Big East.

P.S.......not loving Paultz's avi

Paultzman, is the avi coming towards us or galloping away?

As I mentioned on another thread, we really need to stop the revolving door of players. Transfers, recruit ineligibility, suspensions in season, etc. We can never hope to have a special team with this constant turnover.

Just noticed it. If he is indeed waving goodbye then we are up the creek for next year. Hope that is not the case.

I think Simon is leaving and his latest Instagram post may give you the reason. He wants to be closer to his family.

I suspect the only reason Simon would leave would be wanting to be back on the west coast near family, but he, Figgy & Heron could have a great year next year.
Simon & Tariq were my two favorite players from last year's team, would be tough to see him follow Tariq out the door...Wish him the best either way but sure hope he finishes up with us..

Would be a very big loss of a good contributor and great teammate. Has things he needs to work on but love having this guy on the team.

Bigger problem is this would be two recent grad transfers (along with Owens) who had prominent roles, were given a lot of freedom within the offense and would be expected to continue to do so. Realize grad xfers are growing exponentially but still seems like kids who are either moving up in class or aren’t getting PT. Heck, we’re a Power 5 team. Can’t have key players leaving.

Not a good look. Tells you kids want more than what they are getting - development and/or winning.

I never heard once where Simon said: "Going through the motions." So I wouldn't mind if he stayed.
I don't know, but there is something about that quote the really irks the living blank out of me.

Just how I feel.

This shouldn't come as a shocker. He probably wants to play guard full time and here he'll still be probably be small or power forward. I just hope he chooses wisely, because a major program may stick him in the same position. WCC or Big West is a great level for him to play where he wants, and he'll completely lock down his man while doing it.

It's a bummer for sure, but the only thing that will make me mad is if he ends up at Nebraska.

Nobody transferring will come out and say they're transferring due how we finished the season, but doesn't that seem like the most likely reason? We might have 3-4 students transfer out and all could give different reasons, but I'd bet the real reason is the one a lot of us are thinking.

It'd suck to see Simon go. I hope whatever happens in regards to Mullin and his staff happens ASAP. Next season has already begun and the next 2 weeks will likely be the most important.
