19-20 Transfers
Just a question but would adding Mutts create even more class imbalance in the roster? It adds another Junior and takes away a spot from 2021. Do you guys see this as a problem?
Keep in mind because he is graduating in 3 years with still 2 years of eligibility left he will actually be able to grad transfer again next year if he chooses.

True but if he doesn't choose to 7 of 13 on the 2021 roster will be Seniors which seems a recipe for problems in 2022.

I like what I saw but seems to be similar to forwards we already have. Would prefer some more skill on the perimeter but I don’t think he wouldn’t help us.

Most good players have decent defensive Skills I would prefer a 6-8 wing that shoots really well and is an average defensive player

I'll take him. Another big body who shoots at a high %, can hit free throws and rebound. Solid Otg and Dtg last season. Frees up Earlington and Champagnie to be deployed flexibly and create mismatches. As much promise as Roberts showed early last season and I still like him as an energy guy/shot changer, Butts is very likely the more productive player next season. Having Toro and Mutts on the roster allows us to better matchup with more physical teams and adding another guy who can finish down low will provide improved spacing. At 2.2 APG, he can pass a little.

And I don't disagree with the sentiment that another shooter would be ideal, but we need another big body too. And if Mutts and Toro can create some gravity down low, it will lead to more open looks on the perimeter and a higher 3pt%. Also hopefully Cole is the shooter we think he is, Moore shoots at a 30-35% clip from behind the arc, and Williams, Champagnie, and Earlington improve their percentages. I don't think Dunn or Caraher become better shooters, they are what they are. Posh's outside shooting is TBD. Wusu gets limited burn.

How about for the New York Mutts? ;)

It'd be nice for us, but does a player like Mutts want to play half the game or less, or does he want to show himself off for next level as much as possible?

We have our fill of tweener forwards for right now. Really need either a wing scorer or a decent sized PF/C.

This^^^. I do not want a 6'7 banger. I want a 6'11 banger. If we are bringing in a 6'7 guy I want him to shoot 40% from 3

The big problem is that everyone wants the 6'11" banger, and there are less of them, so they are much harder to land. I think you can win in college with 6'7" bangers, though.

Do you want chips with that banger?

How many 6’11” bangers has MA had historically? The system doesn’t strike me a plodding big man system.

I'd take Bobby Portis and Daniel Gafford all day everyday... haven't seen a player like either of those in an SJU uniform in my lifetime (watching since mid 90s).... maybe Zendon but he's not in their realm

There are guys bigger than 6'7 that have some mass behind them that can still move. I understand there are fewer of them and everyone wants them but if Seton Hall can get a guy like Mamu why can't we?

With reference to another thread, I think a 6'7" guy like Wes Unseld wouldn't hurt.
