ISLANDERS

How about the Islanders winning their 7th straight. 3-2 OT win at Tampa Bay.
Islanders and Johnnies with a combined 15 game winning streak. Like the good old days.
Win hopefully didn’t come with a loss. Barzal took a slapper off the knee towards the end of regulation. Didn’t look good.

More proof that the 80’s was the best decade ever.

Islanders playing better after working on the lateral movement.

With the first pick in the 2025 NHL draft, the New York Islanders select…

I would not over think it. If the defenseman, Schaefer, is head and shoulders above everyone and has a ceiling of a top pair defenseman, pick him.

Game changing defensemen are very hard to find. Add him to the prospect pool, and things look better moving forward.

Then look to deal Pageau, who has some value to a contender that needs a third line center.

The GM position suddenly looks more attractive now.

I agree and they could also possibly to look to deal a defenseman if they take Schaefer. The new GM is coming into a good situation and hopefully will be active. They have good parts and youth coming. Need to sign a big FA if they can. They haven’t been successful with getting one so hopefully this is the offseason.

The team has a great arena and stability. The one thing I will always be thankful to Lamoriello is bringing professionalism and seriousness to a franchise that needed it desperately.

And timing is everything. The Isles were probably the second best team the two years Tampa beat them in the conference finals. If the Isles win one of those cups, our outlook is very different.

As far as FAs go, with a suddenly decent prospect pool coming up soon, it may be more attractive for both a GM and for a player. But of course the GM must be hired first and then the decision on Roy comes immediately after.

And don’t worry about the length of your posts. We may get one other person to jump in, but for the most part we will just be talking to each other. 😁

It’s a shame that the Islanders are the forgotten team in this area with all their history. And that UBS is a great place. My kids love when I take them to games.

Seems like the rest of the board is in an Isle be seeing you mode. 😆 IMO if top 4 picks are closely bunched and they can still get one of them by trading down and getting a good hall that may be the way to go.

The Boston College kid from Hauppauge would probably be a fan favorite.

It sucks that the next generational stud is in next year's draft though. :ROFLMAO:

Maybe another trade for a first round pick and then hope that team tanks. I think next year’s Colorado pick is lottery protected.

It is. Top 10 pick drops to ‘27.

I’ve seen people suggesting packaging that pick with Dobson to get into top 4 to try to get Schaefer and Hagens. Good problem to have.

If they take Schaefer, I can see them trading Dobson for that elusive scoring winger who they been chasing for years.
If they’re trading Dobson, it better be to either move up back into the 1st round or to get another 1st next season. I’d prefer to keep him to be honest, Schaefer or not. He had a fairly poor season but he started coming on as the season was going on and he’s still young. I’m more worried about Pelech and especially Pulock. Even if you trade one or both of them, what are you getting back? The injuries and playoff series’ have taken their toll.
