Yankees 2024 Season

Cashman has no class.
Cashman has no class because news of Bader was said by a media outlet? I understand everyone wants to hate Cashman but let's not create a narrative here just for the sake of hating Cashman. Someone leaking news isn't exactly new thing

Cashman has leaked stuff like this before.

So Bader has a chance to catch on with a contender? That's a bad thing? He's a FA and Yankees probably aren't going to re-sign him so he gets placed on waiver in case a contender wants to rent him rest of the year. Frankly its doing a solid to the player.

Bader isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer not knowing how waivers works. I also know people who played ball with him in HS and he wasn't exactly the most well liked teammate. Yankees luck he probably won't get picked up anyway. Then he will be unhappy rest of the way as they play Dominguez.

Cashman still dropped the ball. Not the first time he’s used the media for his antics.

How about you give the player a heads up that you put him on waivers? Or, does that fall outside the job description?

This episode is a cap stone on the absolute clown car that this front office is.

And before the peanut gallery jumps in I haven't been around. Life gets in the way. I'm really disappointed in the Yankees this year. I don't think Cashman will be let go. Slim chance he steps aside as GM and is more elevated Ala Billy Beane but very slim. Boone is likely dead man walking. With a year left on his contract he's ripe for the picking. The offense is inept and needs a philosphical overhaul. That being said I think Cashman deserves a chance to make that change. His track record has earned that. If he had a year left on his contract I would feel differently. But let's see. Hope the kids are a revelation.

I don't know exactly what happened just like you don't and Knight doesnt either. So we're all speculating. And the front office hasn't done itself favors this year (hello Anthony Rizzo and Domingo German). But I have worked in this industry long enough to know that loose lips sink ships. I was amazed working at a League office and seeing media report trades before the League office even found out. It just takes one employee (yes other people know besides Cashman) and they tip a reporter before they can tell Bader the media will run with it.

Plus the post article does say- "it is not uncommon for teams not to tell players about going on irrevocable waivers". Seems like years ago everyone was put on waivers during August.

Consider this a bizarre thought, but what if they tell the player just prior to putting him on waivers? No rules against that, and you ensure that you are the one providing the message, and not via a leak. Earth shattering, I know, but at least it comes off as somewhat professional. And, with how this front office has not distinguished themselves in any way this year, I wouldn't give them any benefit of the doubt.

He pulled the same crap with Jeter when negotiating a new contract. Sometimes the fault does lay with the top guy. What is his successful record?

George would have fired these idiots and that includes his son Hal.

I miss that fella.

game 133/
bravo cy cole.
again torres and stanton carry the yanks on offense.

in the olden days most of the regular players were often put on waivers. it was a roster manipulation.
mantle was routinely put on waivers. rarely claimed and if claimed, pulled off waivers.

Good job by Cashman leaving the Yankees a man short when Bader was claimed.
Boone a genius with managing the pitching staff.
Great base running again. Reason enough to fire Boone.
