game 29.
i saw the play "sunset blvd" for the 3rd time, today.
i missed the yanks playing "sunset ball club".
then i went to a restaurant and was seated at a table facing the rays on tv.
the rays were winning 9 to 5 in the ninth inning.
the tv crawler was full of - the rays pitchers were #1 in a dozen stats.
followed by - the rays hitters were #1 in a score of stats.
then the baseball gods smiled and thhhhhhhhhhhhhhe rays lost.

It’s awful. Yesterdays lineup featured six guys whose OBP was less than .250. Can’t even get a walk. Oswaldo I’d a nice story but only has 4 walks this year. He should go to the minors until he learns the strike zone.

Surely Scranton has someone who can play defense and put up a better OBP. We have a history of being reluctant to give prospects a chance.

Boone-Girardi use a plug and play formula for late innings pitchers rather than an assessment of pitcher effectiveness at that moment. They will pull an effective or even dominant starter-reliever just to stick to formula using a 7th inning guy , 8th inning guy, etc. It basicly started with Torre , difference being Torre used his gut to evaluate whether or not pitcher effective and more often than not his gut was right. Plus he had Mariano, a game changer!
 
Effing Boone is just a horrible Manager. Pulling German at 88 pitches was ridiculous. Had no tough, long innings. Holmes another Yankees pitcher that can't field his position. The Last Place Yankees. With a Last Place Manager.

in the long and storied history of yanks/guardians, this was the most brutal loss.
2 to zip entering the 9th. german had yielded at that point, one single and one walk.
going into fridays action, the yank pen had mlbs lowest era.
talking heads kept yapping about the rested yanks pen.
in comes the pen, pitcher fielding error, etc., out goes the win
and once again, the game ends on a hicks swing and miss
