Yankees - 2020

The reason I said that I'm glad the season is over was because they looked bored, after losing 16 of 21 and seeing the postseason in jeapody and having a team meeting with cash, they turn it on and win 10 straight.

So I was glad for it to be over so they'd have to play good since it's the playoffs, and just like that they get 22 runs in 2 games.
Just a coincidence? Lol

Another meaningless tack on ninth inning home run.;) :)

And I'm utterly shocked the next batter saw a pitch up and in. The Rays NEVER throw at anyone their manager said.

Happy to see Gleyber steal up 6.

div series game 1
great ny post article on the yankee sticks
missing was the great job by my heroes chad and jeremy and cy britton
also missing was boone - playing higgy, playing clint/gardy combo
what a pleasure beating the head hunting rays
that ninth inning steal spoke volumes about the yankees

Nice complete win last night. Keep hitting homers and they'll continue to win. Boone's moves all working out. Will using Garcia tonight be the right choice? Would be nice to have Tanaka up 1-0.

What does Higgy have to do to be the first choice as catcher?

Boone outsmarts himself with a Hapless performance! Analytics! :(

Can't help but think that it was all Cashman, not Boone.

Sure it was a team decision, but Yanks effectively burnt 2 starters, and now Montgomery becomes the starter in an elimination game if Yanks lose tonight. I'm assuming if it goes to a 5th game it is Cole.

If you watch the postgame interviews Boone can't even look into the camera. Not defending him at all but you can tell it wasn't his call. And if you watch Happ he's livid and tells reporters to ask Boone with a stone face. Very awkward and I worry about clubhouse dynamics right now more than ever.

Pretty sure Garcia can come back in Game 4. He threw under 30 pitches. Rays would have to start Yarborough or Richards who are pretty much openers in their own right.

Two other notes CB Bucknor needs to lose his job. His performance was disgusting and embarrassing and while the infield shift is one thing, 4 outfielders makes a mockery of the game.

Whomever came up with that hairbrained excuse for a strategy should be fired. Who was holding the brain when this decision was made. You possibly screwed up the game and definitely screwed up your rotation. You are now looking at the very real possible situation of handing the ball to the 21 year old rookie with limited experience in game four which could decide the series which negates what you were supposedly trying to avoid by starting him in Game 2. Its one thing if your up 2-1, but another if you are down 2-1. Utterly clueless.

How this guy got to call balls and strikes for a playoff game is beyond me. Ron Darling even commented to the fact that he is known to not be very good or consistent when calling games. MLB should be ashamed for letting this happen.

Even though Torres walked anyway, I thought the 3-1 pitch to him that was called a strike, was the turning point of the 9th inning. It forced our guys to chase high fastballs the rest of the way.
Agreed Buknor was awful, but Angel Hernandez got to work a playoff series too. Just wow.
Remember, about 8-10 umpires opted out this year, due to COVID. That means there's going to be a downturn in umpiring, because they had to call that many guys up from the minors. So, unworthy umps were always going to get playoff assignments this year, especially early on.

But again, Bucknor's always been a lousy ball-strike guy, and in a best-of-5 series, with 6 umps working, there was no need for him to work the plate at any point.
