Yankees - 2020
Yankees 18-7 against teams not named Tampa

1-7 against teams named Tampa
The Devil is in those details I'm afraid.

game 33. cole hit again
yanks lineup - dj and voit with clint coming back to earth
one hit first 5 innings
kraken again k less
rays own the yanks is an understatement

Eureka the Yankees win.
And the Rays get their panties in a bunch at the end of the game where Kevin Cash pretty much threatens to retaliate.
Paging Rob Manfred.

game 34. move over yanks-red sox rivalry there is a new rivalry in town
bravo mvp dj
the yanks pitchers used, looks more like playoff quality
voit continues to stay hot

Well momentum in baseball sometimes is only as good as the next days starting pitcher. In a game where both teams were hyped with emotion, the Yankee starterJordon Montgomery killed their momentum serving up hard hit balls and not getting out of the first inning giving up 4 runs and leaving the bases loaded with two outs.

game 35
first 4 rays up, 4 runs scored. turn tv off
monty blasted
clint and gio staying fine
adam oh no again cant get a 1, 2, 3 inning

Bullpen allowed 1 run in 8 1/3. Yankees can’t score.

Out of 10 appearances in your world how many times does Ottavino have to go 1,2,3 for you to be satisfied?

Actually scored 7 runs but blew three run leads twice. Speedster Tyler Wade gets double up for the second game in a row in a fly ball to the outfield.

Team is cooked after today. By Labor Day they be out of a playoff spot.

Wtf is their pitching? They began training in early July, began playing the last week of July, it's now the first week of September.
Strength in their arm should be good by now. They look like crap. TB pitching is getting the job done.

Yanks better start getting hot by the last 2 weeks of the season or they might not even make the playoffs, and that's with 8 teams in, not 4.
That would be sad.

Susan Waldman said Tampa has 11 pitchers on DL including some of their best.

game 36
poor pitching. medosa line lineup equals iffy playoff team
adam oh no - stop presses 3 up 3 down yes i hold nyc italian american yankees to a higher standard
when britton and chapman get hit, its a long season
dj, voit, and gio need others to hit

My post from five days ago:

"By the end of this week, While not officially, the Yankees will be out of the playoff race. Hope I’m wrong but... "

I don't think I'm wrong.

They do but their best are Snell and Glasnow. They also just got back Morton. I'd take any of them (I wanted them to go after Morton when he became a Free Agent after pitching for the Astros) ahead of our starters except for Cole and Tanaka (and with their age, you have a good argument of taking Snell and Glasnow over him but like Tanaka, they have had arm troubles also).

Yankees announce they placed Gio Urshela on the 10-day injured list with a right elbow bone spur and placed Jonathan Loaisiga on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to 9/2) with a medical condition that prevents him from playing and necessitates placement on the injured list.

They are going to run out of players!

Betcha that was before Urshela (Bone Spur in right elbow) and Loaisiga (non-covid medical condition which prevents him from playing which sounds a little scary because you don't go on the IL with a cold).

The injury hits keep coming. Unfortunately the base hits do not.
