The Sanchino with his second homer in as many days!
And third error in four days!
Come on. You know that error should be on Gleybar. He whiffed on it
The ball got about 16 feet away from Sanchez. Call it a passed ball instead of a wild pitch. The way the game is played today the catcher has to keep the ball in front of him. This is the aspect I'm worried about with Sanchez. I'm not worried about his throwing.

1 haven't all the errors been throws to date. That error was on the throw and shouldn't be. Throw beat runner plain and simple and inning would have been over
2 he did keep the ball in front of him. Granted to the side. This is German who has walked 5 in 3 innings.

Andujar has small tear in labrum. Might have to have season ending surgery. Rehab first option

Oh no! They can't afford any more injuries. Great play by Judge, may have saved the game.

game 5. ouch. ouch. Stanton and andujar on il.
strange/effective game for german. many, many walks.
kranken - he giveth & taketh away. 400 foot plus homerun, cant reach second base without bouncing a throw.
needs checkup from neck up - when the pitcher was intentionally trying to unintentionally walk him, he has 3 balls , no strike count, & swings at lame ball 4.
99 - game saving defensive play after 2 leadoff walks.
gardner - hitting ball well, they finally are dropping in. goes into homerun trot with first row homerun

Don't get too many Yankee games televised down here (only ones on MLB, ESPN or Fox). How did German look last night? I think he's got the talent to become a starter if he can get some consistency/control.

He has the stuff but gives up too many walks. If he can improve his control he will be an asset. I subscribe to MLB.TV single team package to get the Yankee games.

Thanks. Maybe I will look into that. Do you get that through your regular cable company or directly through MLB channel?

You do not need a cable company, just an internet connection. I stream the games through a Roku device. Many smart TVs have the MLB.TV app built in. Mine is too old hence I use Roku.

The lineup is going to be a concern, at least until Stanton comes back. You can say "next man up" all you want to, but at some point, you could be throwing your Triple-A lineup out there, against major league pitching.

Last night, the Yankees only had 5 hits. Fortunately, two of them were over the fence, and we took advantage of a Tigers misplay for the other run. Other then that, we really didn't have many other opportunities.

It was enough, but it's going be tough to win doing that every night. I think it eventually leads to the pitching getting tight.

Nothing you can do, though. Nobody's going to be selling off their parts this early in the season.

To add to my point, tonight's lineup is not exactly Murder's Row:

Gardner CF
Judge RF
Voit 1B
Torres SS
Lemaheiu 3B
Tauchmann LF
Frazier DH
Wade 2B
Romine C

No Sanchez, Bird, or Tulo, in addition to the injuries, makes this lineup much less formidable (I'm surprised at no Bird tonight, especially since Detroit is pitching a lefty tomorrow - then again, his HR on Opening Day did come off a lefty).

You can only ask the pitching to do so much, IMO, and Tanaka is usually not as strong when going on regular rest (which he will be doing tonight).

This is the kind of stuff (among others) that drives me nuts with Boone. You're facing the Tigers best pitcher. Why not rest Sanchez and Bird last night, in order to put a more representative lineup on the field tonight. Just don't get him or his lineups, much of the time.

Tanaka throws many pitches in the dirt. Romine blocked them all. It was a no brainer to rest Sanchez. With Bird, you have a point. Voit looked pretty bad at first so far.

game 6. second tier lineup for yanks.
tanaka pitched very well.
chapman lost it with full count walk, double, single.

I love these recaps
My day isn't complete until I see them.

Much more representative lineup for today's 4 pm game:

LeMahieu 3B
Judge RF
Voit DH
Sanchez C
Torres 2B
Bird 1B
Frazier LF
Tulo SS
Tuachmann CF

Like DJ leading off.
Gardner is not a full time player anymore.

What a terrible day. Once Tulo goes on the IL that will be 11 players. 18 strikeouts today.

Tough time for this too, because the answers clearly are not here (I can't even blame lack of depth - 11 players is just too much, IMO), but because it's so early in the season, nobody's going to be selling their parts off to us anytime soon. Pretty obvious that, if we miss out on the division (or a playoff spot altogether), we'll look back at the lineups we were throwing out in April as the reason why.

I worry about Judge, with what this lineup is going to be for at least the rest of April. Why would pitchers give him anything to hit? One time today, he came up with 2 out and nobody on, drew a walk, and I knew the inning would be over after that. Expect to see a lot of that going forward.
