Yankees - 2019

Boone looks to me like a Manager of the Year candidate. Injuries and thin pitching skillfully handled.
It might ONLY be 6 game lead. But the Yankees have 4 games in hand as well.
What is this , hockey? ;) :) :) :) :) :)

Hopefully the bats have woken up. Didi had been looking horrible at the plate with pop ups and K's, hopefully the grand slam snapped him out of his funk.
The starters been carrying this team.

Uhhh yeah and???
They did suck during that stretch, those 2 weeks they stunk, if you think not then go back and look.
Glad they straightened the kinks out and hopefully they continue to be good from now through the playoffs.
Yeah they'll have a bad week where they'll go 3-4 or even 2-5, but 2 weeks is a little long for a top notch team.

My point is baseball is a marathon not a sprint. You get so hot and cold. Even keel my man.

Remember the great Crash Davis

Know what the difference between hitting .250 and .300 is? It’s 25 hits. 25 hits in 500 at bats is 50 points, okay? There’s 6 months in a season, that’s about 25 weeks. That means if you get just one extra flare a week – just one – a gorp… you get a groundball, you get a groundball with eyes… you get a dying quail, just one more dying quail a week… and you’re in Yankee Stadium.”

I know you're trolling but this sounds exactly like the kind of stuff the Mets Front Office talks about when they decide to go cheap on roster building. Pretty comical haha. Maybe they're hiring in their analytics department :).

game 94. now playing with house money.
bravo- cy german & the pen.
gio - gio -gio - cant sit this guy.

Nice first game win. It would be great to get the second to put more space between the Yanks and Ray's. Plus it would be a really good series win at home after the debacle of the first series game.

game 95. sweet/sweet/sweet.
what are the odds of the yanks winning this game before the first pitch?
Morton - one of the best pitchers in baseball vs green - bases loaded/no outs - cortes - line drive foul ropes & cessa. none of the yankees 3 will probably see any post season action. dj & kraken out of the lineup.
if you had the yanks minus 3 you won. romine starts rally with double. the tauch ends rally with bases loaded walk.
reluctantly the daily old school redmen why was he ever born award goes to Morton's 6th inning.

Even a split would be OK, since we only have two games left with the Rays after this week, but 3 out of 4 should be the minimum goal.
Asplit at home is never ok.
Lets bury tb is sweep them, but 3 of 4 is ok.

We'll take the first step 3, then the genius will rest 3 regs and use the b tesm pen guys and lose thursday.
Got that 3 of 4. TB was getting all happy, thinking ok we got that 8.5 game deficit down to 5, now it's doable.
Lol Then we decide to get serious and take the next 3.
Smackkkkkk back to 8.
Know your role TB, and never think you'll catch us again.

I'm not a Tampa fan at all, but I love the way they play with limited resources, in a shithole of a ballpark. And Kevin Cash is a helluva Manager, and is all class. I watched this series on the Tampa network, and pre- and post-game, had nothing but good things to say about the Yanks, their players and the organization. So unlike Cora.

Then why does CC hate their players so much :silly:

Although he has not been great for us, acquiring Edwin Encarnacion, just to stop Tampa from getting him, has worked out, in that regard.

Watching these 11 games against the Yankees over this past month (all of a sudden, I'm not too upset that we only play them 2 more games the rest of the season), it's pretty clear that they are lacking at least one power bat. I know what D'Arnould did the other night, but it was just one game. They have no one who strikes fear in you (although Meadows is a very good player), and no one who could keep the team afloat by carrying them during a 2 week slump.

I generally don't like the mindset of moves like the Encarnacion one, but in this case, mission accomplished, so far.

What can you NOT like about acquiring a power hitting bat like Edwin who will be a FA after the year for next to nothing?

Oh, I had no problem with the trade. I just didn't like when they said that a big reason for it, was to keep him away from Tampa. That should be a bonus. The Yankees did that with Jose Canseco in 2000, and it was a disaster. Also, when they signed the reliever Mike Myers, they said it was because he could get David Ortiz out. Well, what about the rest of the league?

If you ask me, CC comes off as a bit of an ass with that crap. He was also pissed off at a team bunting on him in the past couple of years. If I was a Manager I'd bunt all day on him. He's horrible defensively, can't get off the mound, and can't even get to first base to cover.

Agreed. We were serious the first game to but we decided to through a hanging slider to first pitch fastball and slider killer D'Anaud. Stopped throwing him first pitch fastballs and sliders on everything else and he was quiet the rest of the series.
