Yankees - 2019

trade for 2 starters.
andujar - I don't believe you can trade someone who is on an il.
Which applies to Betances as well.
i didn't know that. an IL person can't be traded? that changes a lot.

Not that I'm sold on Cortes, but he was just what the doctor ordered last night. But Boone continues to drive me nuts. Holder is overused. Send him down to get fixed. Britton should have started the 8th. This Encarnacion trade has to be part of a bigger plan for a starter. Frazier is probably history in any deal.
Andujar may be gone as well. It costs a lot to get a lot.

Maybe they package all of Andujar / Frazier / Florial / Betances along with Happ or Paxton and they somehow get two front line starters. There are zillion permutations to this. Of course, one of the main issues is staying below certain luxury tax thresholds.

It'll be hard to 'thread the needle'.
I'm sorry are you saying they should trade Paxton?

lol and Abreu hits a HR off Paxton in the 1st.
Serious question, why couldn't we leave Paxton in the minors until he started pitching like himself? As soon as he's healthy we gotta bring him up, even though he's pitching like crap?

Believe there is a time limit you can leave a vet in minors on rehab assignment

What he's getting at is Paxton spent no time in the minors instead of a couple starts to build back up.

Come on nothing, since he came up, he's been horrible. So I seen the HR in the 1st, and said to myself: "and here we go again." To his credit he settled down and gave up 2runs in 6. Hopefully this is the start of him getting back to his normal self.
It just gets frustrating watching crapping pitching. Yeah, I know good teams have down periods also, but for the good teams it doesn't last to long, maybe a week, then back to their winning ways.
We'll split with chi after losing the first 2, now lets roll TB and take 3 of 4 vs. TB, get alittle seperation.

Wrong

Since he came back from the DL his first start he went 4 innings because of pitch count and struck out 7 giving up 0 runs. That would have been that Minor League start you wanted so bad. After that start he had a 2.81 ERA. 2 point goddamn 81. The last 2 starts weren't good and it crept above 4. It's back below 4 now at 3.93. He is going to have to pitch on a wonky leg all year. It is what it is.

The team is 16 games above 500 I mean my god. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be a Yankees fan.

game 70.
please no more trade Paxton talk. he threw 108 pitches today. he is healthy.
they need 2 more paxtons, as their soon to be beefed up lineup & solid but used bullpen should easily get them into post season.
just when I am digging gardner's grave, he comes in with a stat filled game.
Frazier sent to AAA. Next move is to trade him for a pitcher.
Lot of MadBum rumors to Minnesota heating up.
I was big on him but over time I wonder he would spontaneously combust in NY.

Frazier is a valuable chip. His bat is All Star level. I just don't know if names like Stroman and Boyd are worthy of that price.

Kluber off an injury pass. Bauer scares me a bit like MadBum based on personality.

If Frazier is the biggest piece we have to give up, I'd take a gamble on MadBum. Maybe he will turn into another Verlander!

Thought i posted a reply but I guess not.
He was good in his return vs sd.
He struggled @ Toronto, he couldn't go 5 full got smacked vs. the Mets. So yeah he wasn't so good, sorry.

Hey management only accepts gold standard, so oh well, be embarrassed of management too.

Yeah and how many times have the Yankees won the WS recently? So its no wonder Management hasn't hired and fired 7 managers in that time. I doubt they are unhappy with Paxton trade to date. Since you know it's June.

All Yankee starters have era's in the 3-4 range. And we know the bullpen is among the best. They doubled down on bats hoping to score 5-6 runs a game to offset that 3-4. We know they will trade for a pitcher too. I just don't understand first inning solo HR post. It's beyond premature.
I'm sorry are you saying they should trade Paxton?
No, I'm not advocating for any trade in particular. I'm just saying that the kind of starter they need probably has a huge contract. The team is trying to watch how much above the luxury threshold they go. So, they may have to shed some salary (one of their starters) + some young guys in order to make it palatable for both sides of the trade - in order to get a top end starter. At some point, Cashman has to go all in a for a Scherzer like guy, hopefully get back Severino or German gets back in order, and go for it. A Happ or a Paxton may have to go.

Glad I was wrong on 2 fronts this weekend: Yanks were able to split the series after I predicted a ChiSox sweep, and this lineup didn't miss a beat today.

Bumgarner to Minny makes sense, since I believe, they are not on his no trade list, so Minnesota would not have to give him a new contract, if they pick him up.

From page 32 of this thread.
Lets look at what the starters did in 10 of those 11 because Green started and pitched 2.1 innings so wont count that.
56.2 IP, 63H, 38ERs, and 13HRs

Look at it this way 54IP is 6 complete games. This is about 6runs per game the starters are giving up."

Maybe it's called frustration with the starting pitching.
What a superlative outing by Tanaka tonight, to kick off this important homestand. Wow.
Complete game shutout in this day and age is almost unheard of! What happened to the middle relief, 7th, 8th, and 9th inning closer guys? LOL
