Yankees - 2018

Scratch one potential SP candidate off - Red Sox get Eovaldi, although a reunion probably wasn't too likely anyway.but hate to see him go to the Sox.

Doubting Sanchez injury reminds me when there were so many doubts about JR Richard so many years ago. Later events showed how serious Richard's situation was.

When was it that the last person died from a groin pull? ;) Not saying he is not injured but the guy has a history of loafing and if you watch both plays if he is still in the game you have to be able to more than slowly jog. If you can't run at all how the heck do you stay in the game and come up to bat-oh well maybe I can hit a homer but if I don't and just bang one off the wall it's OK if I get thrown out at first?

If you can, read some or all of the articles about his performance in the minor leagues from opposing scouts. They unanimously state he was very immature, and as such underperformed from time to time. He still has a lot of growing up to do. If I'm not mistaken, the Yankees signed him when he was only 16.

Is he 16 now?
I think he's a man now, time to act like a man.
If he can't, then leave him in the minors until he decides to.

Yankees reportedly working on J.A. Happ trade

The Yankees are reportedly “heavy in the mix” for Happ.

The Yankees like J.A. Happ but haven't been able to agree with Toronto on a price, and with the regular-season standings seemingly mattering less by the day, the Yankees might prefer to keep their assets and try touted right-hander Justus Sheffield in the rotation at some point.

Sheffield took a 2.38 ERA into play on July 24. That mark came across 16 starts (17 total appearances) between Double-A and Triple-A this season.

Yankees should get Wheeler from Mets. Zack is healed and looms as a 2-3 starter in the future and is under control through the 2019 season. IF not deGrom when would command a bevy of prospects, Zack is the guy to get imo.

According to Cash man, Sanchez out until end of August or beginning of September. Let's get that guy from the Marlins!

Good trade for Yankees. Very weak return for the Jays.
To me, the Yankees should've gone after Wheeler, but glad they didn't IF that were the 'prizes' offered.

Drury and McKinney have some ability. They can put up number in Toronto the next few years which could make Cashman look foolish, but the reality is, they were never going to get a shot here, so it's good that we got something for them.

As part of their ongoing search for rotation help, the Yankees have talked to the Twins about veteran right-hander Ervin Santana, reports Jon Heyman of Fancred.com. The two sides have also discussed other pitchers like Lance Lynn, Jake Odorizzi, and Kyle Gibson. The Twins are out of the postseason race and the Yankees have cast a wide net for pitching help.
Santana is in the final season of his four-year contract -- the deal does include a $14 million club option for 2019 -- and he just recently returned following offseason finger surgery. He allowed three runs in five innings in his first start of the season earlier this week. Lynn and Odorizzi are impending free agents while Gibson (and Santana) can be retained for next year. Minnesota is widely expected to trade away some veterans prior to the July 31 deadline.

Can't trust a Wheeler flipping leagues to the AL where he's never been before. Plus the Mets would make it a much harder deal

Cashman is great when it comes to trades. Traded a guy blocked at multiple positions who I'm sure was not happy with his AAA time and an OF who would have NEVER seen the light of day in Yankees OF. And they got a pitcher who has great numbers in his career vs Boston and also pitched in Houston before.

I don't think Cashman is done either.

Foolish? Yea Drury can return to the numbers he had in the desert. That's fine. But he had zero role on this team this year next year or moving forward. And McKinney is a 4th OF at best who's been traded 3 times already by the age of 23

Happ trade was an excellent trade mainly because they gave up nothing from Yankee perspective. But we do need to get a catcher if we want to try to catch Sox for first.
