I think need to get Wilcher more looks from three. Despite the recent struggles his shot is sound and someone is going to have to hit a couple.
Smith, Luis and Scott when feet are set and are open eventually by law of averages should be able to hit some. Off dribble threes and any Kadary three have to be eliminated.
Finally posting sensibly!

His shot looks great. He needs to get it in rhythm so his mechanics can kick in. We have to hunt looks for him out of timeouts and to start the game.

Smith also has a good look by shot and he can get it off the bounce. He needs to start taking a few more threes.

We may need to explore going to a true 2-3 zone when Zuby is out. That will keep Vince in the paint and just let the kid be 7’1.

Slow the pace on offense to drag it out. Get clever around the TV timeouts.
2-3 (or more like a high 2-3) zone was useful tonight when we went to it. Didn’t hurt that we were fast as hell with keeping up with their guys and tried to keep the switching off to a minimum when we were man-to-man.

I'm wondering with some of our length (depending on the lineup) if this is something Pitino has been tinkering with.

Last year we threw that match up zone at Xavier Game 1 (out of nowhere) and it really throttled them.

The zone also helps Kadary (can play on the wing, like he did at Cuse) and maximizes what he does well. Depends on the lineup though.

Pitino described as a football team that runs the ball and plays great D. Michigan this year beat Alabama and Ohio State that way

It’s definitely in the toolbox. Vince can’t be getting bounced around like a pinball anymore. He’s way too aggressive hedging and too willing to switch on smaller guys.

Let him stay in the lane with his hands up.

During the tournament we really become dangerous because timeouts go up big time and we will be able to get Zuby chunks of rest by stacking timeouts near the TV stoppages.

Kadary obviously played way better tonight but seems that Rick committed to him being the focal point of the offense more. Didn’t really notice any possessions where he was just standing in the corner doing nothing or drifting aimlessly away from the ball. It cut into Smith’s share a bit and is going to be a balancing act for the next 2.5 months

Would be lovely if Smith can become a spot up shooting threat in that scenario. He will still get plenty of action off PNR and in transition to be on the ball.

That’s a positive imo, great change of pace when Kadary and Deivon are effective running the point. Less predictability and tougher to defend.
