We may need to explore going to a true 2-3 zone when Zuby is out. That will keep Vince in the paint and just let the kid be 7’1.

Slow the pace on offense to drag it out. Get clever around the TV timeouts.
I agree, but X is a really.good 3 point shooting team and we had to keep running them off the line and closing out. Against teams that don't shoot it as well, yes

Would be lovely if Smith can become a spot up shooting threat in that scenario. He will still get plenty of action off PNR and in transition to be on the ball.
Yep Smith will always be our main transition threat with his speed but I don't see him developing into a spot up shooting threat at this point in his career. The halfcourt offense is where he'll have to learn to make himself useful if Kadary has the ball in his hands more

Well another game even I can't complain about. Always good to go to X and come out with a win. RSR - Fun stat of the day... A couple of friends of mine that are SHU fans said, "Man, does RJ ever pass". To which I responded not usually. So today I counted EVERYTIME RJ Luis passed the ball. Here are the rules, anytime he intentional got the ball into another player on the team hands, except no inbounds passes. Handoffs yes, inbouds no.

RJ passed the 16 times. 2 were handoffs and 2 were in the back court. By comparison he took 14 shots. He had 1 assists on those 16 passes. Team rankings.com said STJ had 83 possessions, RJ Luis played 28 minutes or 70% of the game. He played for 57 possessions and averaged .28 passes per possession. :D

I sense an RJ pass drinking game for home viewers in the works

Just finished watching the game along with reading this thread. Just an outstanding win on the road against a good team. The rebounding was insane, and the defense as well. I just wish we would slow down a bit on the offensive side to really extend leads when we have the chance. Other than that just a great effort all around. So many have pointed out the contributions across the board. A great team win. On to Nova....

I hear you.

He shot 40% last year (a significant uptick from prior years), although on only about 2.5 per game. I didn't watch him enough at Utah to know if they were of the PNR/step back variety or from spotting up.

He’s built for the MAAC.
You should review your assessments of Jenkins at this time last season.
That's how much I trust your evaluation of talent.

This kid had a severe medical setback and I am rooting very hard for him. His only serious deficiency right now is he rushes everything but he has the size and speed to improve every game.

Every major scouting service had him as either a 4 or 5 star recruit in high school.
Remember, he didn't start playing basketball until he got to high school.
By his senior year.......well.....you can read:

"He was ranked as the No. 16 overall recruit by Rivals.com and began the season as a consensus top 15 national recruit in the Class of 2022 by all major scouting services. As a junior, Iwuchukwu played for La Lumiere in Indiana where he averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. He also averaged 9.8 points and 7.0 rebounds for La Lumiere at the NIBC Invitational. He then averaged 19.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 12 games on the Nike EYBL circuit with the Drive Nation grassroots program in July. At the 2021 Peach Jam, Iwuchukwu averaged 16.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 55.4 percent from the field. In August of 2021, he led the invite-only Pangos All-American Camp in scoring (22 ppg) while shooting 58 percent from the floor in addition to posting 9.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks a game. At the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June of 2021, Iwuchukwu led all players in field goal percentage (.750) and finished third in rebounding and fifth in blocked shots. He began his high school career at Cole HS in San Antonio and helped lead them to the 2020 UIL 3A state title. Was selected to the Jordan Brand National team and in the Jordan Classic scored 16 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, had 2 steals and 2 blocks."

At our peak I think we are the best team in the BE. We don't have to steal one, we will just be better for one game.
Even if that is true, beating a similar team on the road is not an easy task.

I think we match up with Marquette well. They don’t rebound, they don’t really block shots, or bully in the paint. They aren’t a great 3 pt shooting team. We play great defense but we can abuse them on the offensive glass.

When you are quoting high school accolades as the only support for a player midway through their junior season, you know you’ve got no argument.

He’s awful on defense. Reverse the ball twice he’s scrambling likes it’s musical chairs.

He should go to lower level to a system that will keep him in the lane and let him play 25 minutes.

If he saves a year of eligibility for Maker, he will have been worth it. Hopefully he can have a couple of good games like Curtis Johnson before he transfers.
