@Xavier, Tue., Jan. 7 , 6:30p, FS-1

Honestly believe the staff instilled a we have to win without making 3s mindset into the group and they responded.

We’re such a weird team. To have this record with these shooting woes in this era of basketball is pretty wild
This team is a throwback for sure. They should just go all in and embrace it and bring back the Artest/Barkley uniforms.

Great win. Can’t remember a game where a team beat a team by 10 just by playing harder. And Xavier wasn’t playing lazy we just played ridiculously hard. Very impressive but our margin of error is really small. Tough to win games when can’t shoot.
Every team in recent memory had no margin for error. The opposite is true here. Winning last 2 despite missing almost every three (and they took plenty) shows the team has a margin for error. They can shoot poorly and still win by double digits. Had other wins despite horrific 3 point and foul shooting.

Great defensive effort and adequate on offense. Great fT %. Zuby is the battery in this machine. Once he gets going everyone else does too. I like that he is content shooting from 5 feet and closer whereby last year Soriano liked to shoot jumpers.

Agreed Ray, as I said though, there will be games where we will have to shoot better to win. Especially against UConn and Marquette.

Looking to the weekend...

Xavier is second-to-last with only 2.9 blocks per game in the Big East. The worst? Villanova, 2.8. Pretty sure we saw the formula for next game...
Dixon is better than Fremantle . I’m worried about Dixon getting Zuby into early foul trouble.

I really thought Vince was an unsung big help tonight. He has a very good sense of timing and angles, decent hands and good upper body control for his height. i now look forward to him coming in. 10-15 net asset minutes from him going forward would be wonderful.

Soriano was a good shooter from inside the 3 point line.
Zuby just is way more physically gifted than Soriano.

Great win on the road.

Georgia a 12-2 and about to beat Kentucky.

5 points in 3 losses against what are 3 really good teams. We have a really good team. Gosh, if these guys can find 5 3 point makes a game they will be something to watch.

Without question. I would like to say we will, but everyone seems to be in a shooting slump. Really thought that first Mullin and now Pitino would have put an end to having no superior 3 point shooters since the rule change. I haven't looked it up, but I suspect that Marcus Earlington may have had one of the highest shooting % from 3 over a season as anyone in the program That's saying something.
