Xavier 1st Game

Really hope we don't plan to double team every time Stainbrook gets the ball down low. Just fight so he doesn't get good position, no need to double team. We've been effective at this before. I could easily see us collapsing on him every time and Xavier having their best 3 point shooting performance of the year.

They are going to have it anyway. The book is out in Big East circles, to beat SJU shoot the three.
It doesn't mean it will work though.

If they are chucking up 3s all day instead of pounding inside they'd be doing us a huge favor. Let's hope that's what we see.

We've had tremendous success doubling down on the ball when someone is posting. Very few players can focus on the primary defender and successfully protect the ball. The ball hounding results in steals and turnovers, and certainly harasses the offensive player enough to make it difficult for him to operate down low. Yes, it can create kick outs to shooters on the wing, but we've also been pretty good at recovering and guarding the ball. With a height disadvantage, I think this is the only reasonable strategy.

Make no mistake, even as underdogs this is a game we really want to have. Is it game, set, and match if we lose - no. But to be serious contenders for the post season, we have to win at least one of these two road games. Win today, and beating G'town would be an immense boost. Lose today, and G'Town becomes a desperate must have game. Their best chance to right the ship begins today.

Give it all you have, boys. For most of you, there is no next year for better luck. Laave it all on the court, and play for your lives.

Alright here we go. Almost tip off. Last time we needed a big road win it turned into a disaster. No repeats today. Get this win

I really like Kevin O'Neill.
Big SJU fan.

And I hate the other dude.

O'Neill picked X and Donny Marshall picked SJU to win.

That's cool and all but he's annoying. Said the big east will only get 5 bids. That's a dumb statement.

We may get 6 but I think a team needs to shoot for the 5 spot in order to feel comfortable. The only exception is that if X or SJu finish 6th behind Depaul, the 6th place team would get the bid.

We can't keep this small lineup. This isn't DePaul, Stainbrook is too good.
