When Keita Returns

In fairness to Earlington, he was recruited as an end of bench guy who could possibly develop over time to be a decent rotational guy. Not a big risk & it was not like they had alternatives. We’ll see if he can play at this level over next few years if he sticks around.

Anyone hear an update on Keita's rehab progress? It's been 4 1/2 weeks since the surgery. Would think he'd have to start basketball activities sometime this week to have any realistic chance of playing against the Hall on 12/29.

Until late in his senior year, it was expected that he would play college football rather than hoops
He is clearly a hardwood project
From what I've seen so far, he needs softer rims
He's clanged a few shots where the rims are still shaking from the impact

Arthroscopy of the knee is relatively simple and not much structural changes are made unless they had some large meniscus repairs. My bet is he’s been on it quite a bit already unless he had some significant repair done but info seems limited.

If I’m the staff, Lovett’s nonsense last year was a lesson learned. I bet we don’t hear any early news until the moment he comes into the game.

A few days ago he posted a video of himself putting up shots in Taffner

On schedule it appears

Thanks to MCNPA, SJU114 & Paultzman for their responses. Sounds like there is a very good chance Keita will be back on the court for Seton Hall or at least for Marquette. That would be great.

Hope he's back in time for Seton Hall. Even with him -- especially with limited minutes and lots of rust -- they have size up front that's going to be a problem for us.

Suspect every team has size that will be a problem for us.

True, but I always find it particularly agonizing to lose to the Hall.

With their size, they don’t score nor rebound like they have size. I still hope Keita back for that game though and I wanna shut them up. Agree losing to them is agonizing...

Zach B on Keita
He’s started to do on court activities. Staff hopes he can return for Seton Hall. Not practicing yet

The big who I'm concerned about is Cuse-transfer Tauren Thompson. Has been disappointing in the early going, but had 13 against Kentucky. Tough match-up for us.

He has rep as bit of a head case who turns it on & off too often. He was in KW’s dog house early on, but seems in “on mode” lately

That's what I'm concerned about. I can't help but remember how Fab Melo was wallowing at Cuse -- not to mention being on probation until just before game time -- and lo and behold he goes up against us and looks like an All-American. And it's happened on other occasions as well: the guy who's underachieving and/or in the doghouse, and he has a career game against us.

Taurean has talent but he’s not a good defensive player and only averages 2 rebounds per game. He’s offensively talented when he wants to be for sure. Having Keita back near 100% would be a big help because he’s big and mobile and a solid athlete. Would be a big upgrade for us over Clark who won’t be able to contain Taureans offense...

If SH is Keita’s first game back, I would be surprised if he played more than 10 minutes. Will probably be rusty & not in game shape. In any event it will be good to have him return.
