What happened to Simon

I think Simon should know the opinion of posters here or anywhere , change in a moment . Certainly it’s frustrsting for him to deal with his individual and Team Results when they don’t meet his own standards .. a good Game vs Marquette , lock down on Howard again and a Win and Justin will be a fan favorite post game . Like Louie said “ one day a Peacock , the next a Feather Duster.” It seemed Justin’s struggles offensively and at the free throw line , had impacted his defense too. As some have suggested , him dunking the ball hard , rather than the soft rolls around the Rim , might benefit him . I would like Ponds and Justin play more of a 2 man game at times , not just the cross Court passs from Shamorie to Justin but, maybe them alternating on pick and rolls . It might work . and Justin is better shooting from inside the Elbow than the Corner . Of course , him posting up smaller players has worked well in the past , before the Troubles started . Troubles do end . Keep your head up , Justin . We need your best game .
Simons defense on Howard and Powell are the main reason we won both of those games. Yes, I know one of those wins was stolen away but that has nothing to do with Simon. All players have strengths and weaknesses. This team is going nowhere without him.
All I'm asking him to do is not take those wild dumb layups, he should think, what the odds that I'm make this, 10-15%,
just stop and pass it to someone behind you or take it out yourself.
How many wild layups does he miss per game, 3-4? That's 6-8 off the boards. In a game where they lose by 3, just hitting half of those 4 layups wins you the game.
Yeah, great def, and hops, but that doesn't excuse him for taking wild dumb shots, he has to think before taking them.

He's a stellar athlete who needs a usage adjustment by the staff.

Things could be worse. At least he's not a mopey cancer like Sid Wilson.

Just imagine how mad we'd be if we paid for Simon and he was an asshole.
Is changing a player's shooting style similar to changing a batter's swing? Quite difficult.
It's not a style that is the problem...his stiffness is. You could show Shamorie six different shooting styles and he'd have them all down in a few weeks without too much of a difference.

Good shooters are fluid...the energy flows from their legs through their wrists. Same thing in baseball, football, and fighting. Justin tenses up. Most bad shooters do. You can't aim.

It's not about making or missing shots...he could go 10-10 tomorrow and the problem will still be there. He needs to play within his abilities. This team needs him to get off the perimeter. Five out does not mean five guys needs to stand around.

He needs to be involved in the half court offense from a slashing/cutting/driving perspective. He is fine in transition. The problem and teams have now figured it out, you do not have to cover him outside the 3pt line. Therfore, he should always be on the weak side so he does not clog up dribble penetration. Unfortunately, this makes him the option for the reverse kick out jump shot which he has plenty of difficulty making. He must either keep the ball rotting back or drive to the hoop. The only other way he scores in half court is offensive rebounding.

Justin played amazing tonight. He played within his abilities all game. He’s a demon in the paint. Great cuts.

There's probably a few guys on quette who have migraines right now, especially wojo.:)

There you go. Nothing like a little RDC trashing to get a player pumped for the game.

Petty sure he played 40 minutes tonight and while Shamorie guided us home, we wouldn't have been in position for him to do that w/o Simon's great game. So happy to see him respond to recent criticism as vehemently as he did.

A lot more selective in his shots. Played well within his game. Now he has to be consistent.

He actually nailed the three that got waved off when Howard got called for a block

Forget the fact that Ponds has outplayed Howard in both games. Simon has actually outplayed Howard in both games, and he's in Howard's head while guarding him, too.
