I said earlier in the season that we all need to imagine this team without Mustapha Heron. I was emphasizing how weak our recruiting had been and how we would barely be a 500 team without his late addition. This has been, as stated by others, an unbalanced and poorly structured roster build. It is worse than what Steve Lavin ever did imo.
Thanks for the meditative exercise, John Lennon. Now indulge me for a moment while I do the same. Imagine a world where sports are just for the enjoyment of the spectator...where negativity and needless worrying about worst-case scenarios don’t exist.
Once sports become a negative force on one’s life, it’s time to walk away.
I'll make it really easy for you. Fans of any team suffer that "negative force" in their lives after every loss. If you find any positivity after a loss, then it's time to walk away because the result has desensitized you. You may not ever expect to win any longer and settle for mediocre results.
Our coaches should have been "imagining" when they may not have gotten NCAA clearance for Mustapha. They should have been imagining "what if Keita" gets injured and who will be the back center. I used the term imagine loosely but the coaches should be substituting the term "planning" and incorporating it into their recruiting. It has not been happening and that is why we will have 6 or 7 new players next season that will be the cornerstone of the team yet have never played as a unit. A recipe for "imagination" next to none and no other Big East team will be going through this next season. Especially Providence with great freshmen who beat our "experienced team" this year.
I just hope we don't go from John Lennon's "Imagine" next season to Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" which is the ultimate put down anthem.
