@West Virginia, Fri., Dec. 1, 7p, ESPN-2

We won at West Virginia by 6 and beat the spread on a night WV shot 43! free throws and we shot 26% from 3 against their 40%. Soriano also uncharacteristically missed a bunch of FTs down the stretch. Pitino also got a bunch of minutes for Dunlap and wilcher. I don’t know how so many people are down on the team after gutting out that win.

Plus Alleyne is finally starting to break out. He was being assertive with the ball in his hands. He played good D and grabbed some boards as well as hitting huge shots. Taylor looks solid and Ledlum played a very good game. Soriano was himself.

The foul calls interrupted the Johnnie’s flow on both ends, slowed the game to WVs preferred pace and limited fast break points. Ledlum and Jenkins fouled out and they still won by 6.

I know this isn’t a vintage WV team but against all those odds they just went into Morgantown and won. There’s reason to be optimistic after this game in my view despite the tenor of this thread.

Just really need to get dingle going on offense and get Jenkins to distribute or take the ball out of his hands more.

It’s a pain for those who DVR’d the game
That would be me. I had to Google the final score. Did anyone else find one of the broadcasters annoying (I forget his name)? He announced the game like it was the Final Four. His voice bordered on yelling and sounded like he was going to jump out of his seat whenever WV made a good play.

I have to find the video of one of Rick's defensive instructional series, but in it Rick says "play the man, see the ball" is backwards. He teaches defenders to always play the ball and position yourself based on where the ball is, and always see your man.

I love watching his videos. I feel like I took basketball 101 and 102 years ago but his vids have pre reqs andcare advanced.

I was pissed at how poorly we played, but Rick was confident we would win and as such gave prime time mins again to second string. All strategic, getting ready for tough conference.
Years ago I attended a basketball camp as a player. Gordon Chiesa gave a presentation I’ve never forgotten. It’s called “ball, YOU, Man”.

That’s fair. Reminds me when CBS cut away from SJU-Duke in OT for a regional game down here in Dallas. I had to call my brother to record the OT for me.
The same occurred in my area as the local CBS affiliate HAD to go to the start of the Gamecocks/Syracuse game that afternoon. Two good friends and myself presumed the network would be returning to MSG after the commercial break, and was shocked to see the Carrier Dome plastered on the TV. I immediately knew what was going on and ran upstairs to listen to the remainder of our game on the internet.

I never saw OT until around 2008 when CBS Sports Network would occasionally show older/nostalgic college games.

Plus , like Soriano , Slaz missed more than a few free throws down the stretch . They both played a lot of minutes .
And Soriano looked like he lost a Tooth? But , it didn’t seem to be bleeding ., Handed it to the Trainer . Put under his pillow . Wake up to a Quarter .

I doubt RP took delight in seeing Slaz leave . He was one of his Iona kids and clearly , as last night showed has game . Pitino had to know he was lacking depth in the Front Court which asks the question , why would he show Slaz the door ?
Because he never opened it for him . I couldn’t help but , notice how big Slaz is at 6’9” . Let’s hope Dunlap can put on that kind of muscle by next season . It would help .

Another concern….. if you take away Allyne, the rest of our bench….. Davis, Dunlap, Wilcher, Traore and Ejifore. Scored a total of 2 points. I think Pitinos assertion of depth was greatly exaggerated.
Last night Dunlap looked like he wanted to get rid of the ball as soon as he got it, and Edjifore can't put the damn ball in the basket even when he's right on top of it. Dunlap's a frosh and good reason to think he'll develop and become the long range shooter we need but Edjifore...I don't know.

Wake up to a quarter? Been a long time since the going price paid for a tooth by the Tooth Fairy was a quarter!!!!

I dvr’d the game but turned it on about 7:20. Couldn’t believe missed the beginning then got bumped on back end

so far brady dunlap i know freshman isnt impressing me at all. But rick must see something in this kid to keep putting him in there. SO i trust a hall of fame coach's decsion over my own judgement based upon watching the games. The game itself was fun to watch you can see we are getting better as a whole and a quality win on the road not against mike anderson's cupcake schedule will help us in the future possibly. 5-2 i believe and only one team that was a softball we played. Not bad.
Soriano is definitely going to go round 1 honestly in the draft now that he is developing his long range shot under pitino. Ledlum starting to become more impressive as the season goes on, this is a fun team to watch for the first time in YEARS. as far as tv is concerned why espn bumped us for the uconn game when it was 4 minutes to go and a close game, wasnt cool. They could of went to espn news. Just shows the value they see in us

These are tough times Economically . The Tooth Fairy is affected like the rest of us .

I think she wishes she had $20 bucks to give Joel but , it’s not there . Besides it’s the thought that counts , not the amount . She’s also paying a lot for Gas these days . She’s reinstated her Tooth Fees to when JFK was President .
