@West Virginia, Fri., Dec. 1, 7p, ESPN-2

Funny, I have read mocking references on this thread to natives of West Virginia and to people from the south on several others and not a peep out of any offended posters, just curious, why is “white boy” different? And no one needs to answer, the question is rhetorical to make a point of the hypocrisy.
I was one of those who called out how ignorant (to be kind) or arrogant (more likely) it was to state those opinions.

Agree with me or not, but I am also of the view that “white boy” usually isn’t meant as a compliment.

Although, I am all for “white boy” becoming the latest and most popular handle on this forum going forward.

I watch a ton of a basketball game off the ball and was very impressed with Dunlap’s ball denial on the wings vs. WV; I don’t believe he is slow at all. I feel expectations are off the charts unrealistic for both he and Wilcher. As I said in a previous post, I think both of them were integral parts in turning the tenor of the WV game around, there are a lot of contributions to a win that don’t show up in a box score.
I agree there's plenty of ways to win a game that don't show up in the box score, look at Glenn Taylor all season. Dunlap has been attacked by other offenses all season, and gets blown by. It's ok, he'll learn. I just wanna see us run plays for him

My point is he is learning and I disagree that he is slow. He is far from the first freshman to have to adjust to the increase in the speed of the D1 game. And I certainly know you are well aware of that.

Wilcher has more talent in his pinky, so if they aren’t close by the end of February that is a very bad sign for us. He’s literally the only player we have that has the physical talent to stop a quick PG or combo.

Wilcher is further behind than I hoped, I’ll admit that. Every mistake he makes is a learning opportunity, though. A lot of these things he only has to learn once. He needs 80-90 total minutes for the rest of our 5 OOC games.

When he’s in it opens up the defense to pressure. Jenkins is a + defender at the 2 and 3, Alleyne is a stud, and Taylor and Luis are versatile. Stopping the ball is the glaring weakness.

I’m glad everyone is staying on topic:
WEST VIRGINIA GAME.

On a final note on this off topic discussion, when I was a poor short white boy my dream was to grow up to be a tall black basketball player. That dream never came true in my youth but now, because of the new identity freedom, I could just identify as one but it's too late because there are no 73 year old basketball players.

So, I finally watched the ENTIRE game Saturday night. Got home from dinner Friday night, headed down to the man cave to watch the recorded game and what do I see for the first 5 minutes of the game...a high school game. We got moved to another channel for the end of a high school game! Ridiculous, but whatever, I keep watching. Then, with 5 minutes to go in a tight game we get moved again for the start of UCONN & Kansas! Are you f'ing kidding me! So i cut it off and see there is a replay on ESPNU in 20 minutes at 12:30am. I record that game. Get up early Saturday for a round of golf, then to the hockey game (Carolina Hurricanes) and then, finally home to watch the game. Happy we won because if I went through all that for a loss I probably would have lost my sh!t.

Years ago I attended a basketball camp as a player. Gordon Chiesa gave a presentation I’ve never forgotten. It’s called “ball, YOU, Man”.
These may be a play off of the legendary Knicks Coach Red Holzman defensive mantra to Walt Frazier and his teammates: "See the Ball, See the Man", Clyde still occasionally brings up this phrase when criticizing a player's lack of court awareness on Defense. [Edit, See the man, See the ball]

1. Sorry if I offended any West Virginians on here with the backwards comments; I heard them at a comedy club in northern Virginia apparently WV is the butt of a lot of jokes down there. Just like NJ is the butt of a lot of jokes all over the place. All just in jest.

2. Growing up in Flatbush in the 60's and 70's, and playing BB in Foster Park, White Boy was usually used by the black players as a compliment towards a Chris Mullin type....."[He] can get into The game on Court 1 (reserved for the best games)...that White Boy can play....." Never taken in a bad way.

Speaking of second part of this post and this should be in joke thread.

What does a girl in tight jeans and Brooklyn have in common? (More so a 70’s and 80’s joke)

They both have a Flatbush

I was going to text you during dinner to not bother to watch the game as a joke. I just didn't realize it would be such an ordeal for you to actually watch the game :)
