@West Virginia, Fri., Dec. 1, 7p, ESPN-2

Right now Jenkins and dingle combined are averaging 6 turnovers per game out of the team's average. Idk if that's a standard ratio for a team's starting backcourt, but I hope both go down as the season progresses.

He doesn’t just force things sometimes. He forces everything and he makes everyone on the court play wild like him.

Nobody can get anything going with him playing this way. He’s a cancer right now and he can’t defend his position. He’s a SG on both sides of the ball and I think Pitino realized that tonight. He sat him for Cruz more than once when Wilcher needed a rest.

I’m actually okay with Alleyne playing the Phil Greene role over watching Jenkins play 100 mph and ignore his teammates. He doesn’t turn the ball over at all on his career and he lets other guys touch the ball.
Pitino was not happy with his play tonight, that and foul trouble (he picked up two fouls in the first half) which is why Wilcher saw more time. Wilcher sat not because he needed a rest but because Pitino wasn’t happy with his play either.

This team does not have a pure PG but you don’t necessarily have to have one to win as long as you have multiple guys who can help facilitate things.

I know it's only 1 game but I like Ledlum over slaz. And I think Taylor's intangibles and decent production make him a very valuable, albeit different, player. And with he and RJ being underclassmen I would choose them over slaz too.
Well…he wanted time on the court, and he’ll get plenty for them.

I have a hard time figuring out exactly what this team does well.

They don't shoot well, they don't defend, their passing is very lazy most of the time. I guess they rebound OK, especially on the offensive glass.

But, if we keep winning while I can't see a strength, that's perfectly fine with me. As fans, we can't really get too nitpicky after a win on the road, against a power conference team.
They don’t do anything well yet. They are still trying to figure it out.

That's 9 players but pitino says he likes to, and will, play 10 or 11. He's just figuring out who will get those spot minutes. Get used to his style of coaching. I'm not going to question a HOF coach who clearly has not lost his fastball.
Interesting that uconn and Kansas played only 7 players each tonight

I still keep going back on my mind to Lavins first year. Took a while till end of January roughly to ( get it ). Then they just turned on a switch. That’s what I hope for at least
Pitino is a pure college coach. He knows that it’s all about how the team is performing in March. I don’t know what he’s doing, but I’m not at all worried that he will build the best team that this squad can possibly be in March.

Yeah, Wilcher needed to sit and talk about his play more than actually rest. It was telling Pitino went to Cruz nevertheless as Jenkins only had two fouls as a guard.

Jenkins is far too hectic. The offense flows better when he’s out. I like the way he faded into the background in the second half but I suspect it had more to do with WV going to the 2-3 than him actually realizing he is a ball-hog and poor facilitator.

Like I said, I’d rather Alleybe — who has a poor handle — take the ball up and get others involved than watch Jenkins play hero ball every single possession. Even when he’s passing the ball he’s usually out of control and and needing to be bailed out. He needs to be put on a shot count or taken off the ball entirely.

The talent is just not there to be a great defensive team. They might be able to get to good, but very good or great won’t happen this year.

Alleyne is very good to elite on defense.

Taylor is good.

Jenkins is good defending the 2 and 3 and then there is a cliff.

Zuby and Wilcher have the talent to be elite with more experience and when they learn to stop fouling with their hands.

Soriano, Ledlum, and Dingle ceilings are probably “okay” defensively.

Before tonight we were leading the Big East in 3Pt%. We shoot it just fine.

Rick's postgame is interesting. Problem was the refs and how they call the game--we did not adjust to their "style" but he thought the 3 PT defense was improved (WV was averaging 20 attempts/game and only had 10 tonight). (Ithought some of the ref calls were weird--the call on Ledlum fordiving for loose ball, I'm still waiting for an explanation.) Also our defense was better working off the picks and rotating than past games. We protected the ball better with only 6 T/O's
