@West Virginia, Fri., Dec. 1, 7p, ESPN-2

Wins are wins and the players and fans should enjoy each and every one.

Of course, we need to be honest and realistic with what we see. The “effort” level of this team is high. I don’t question that at all. However, the defense allows way too many free runs to the basket. Our backcourt is not playing well defensively. Thankfully West Virginia really didn’t have enough talent to exploit us.

On offense we seem to have a couple of guys that don’t see a shot they don’t like. Ledlum and Jenkins come to mind. Tough to say that tonight because Ledlum is a high effort kid and I like him but a conscience he does not have.

I don’t want to worry too much about the fouls. The Refereeing tonight was…b-a-d bad. They called the game way too tight and there were a couple of phantom calls and that’s being kind. The calls mostly were against us. However, you do need to adjust to that and our guys just didn’t.

Still optimistic that the team will get better as the season moves along. Gotta be honest I still think we haven’t found or put the pieces together. Trust in Rick though, fingers crossed.

lol, definitely been a thought in my head even before tonight. Now that you said it first, I’ll admit it. 😂
The problem is the order in which kids committed. There are three guys off the top of my head who could have been elsewhere for various reasons. We roll out a 12-man team, with two guys very clearly at bottom.

I’m channeling my inner Marillac but in hindsight well definitely mjmaherjr and some others were nervous about recruiting till Taylor
Where in MD? We vacation out in deep creek and sometimes oc.
eastern shore side. I’m in hurlock about 20 minutes east of Easton . It’s SMALL town. All my moms side from this surrounding area

The main criticism of Jenkins so far is that he seems to force things sometimes on the offensive end. But CRP doesn't seem overly concerned about him. I think that Jenkins will become steadier as ledlum and particularly dingle get more comfortable. Remember dingle was out at the beginning of the season, but had big contributions in Charleston against Utah.

My Brother in law and his family live in Denton. Rural but surprisingly fun area

Edit. “Surprisingly” shows my bias. Wish I hadn’t written that

Ledlum is starting to get it.

Kid is really versatile.

Believe Rick when he says they will not be fully cohesive until probably mid/late January.

He is trying to find the right combos and right lineups. Trying to get thru the schedule while doing this.

One thing he always stresses even when they don't look particularly good, give great effort.

This is just calm before the red storm that is about to happen for years to come. If you don’t know , now you know !!!!

In retrospect should have kept slazinski and let somebody else transfer.
Slazinski wasn’t staying once Ledlum came aboard. He wanted starter minutes and knew he wasn’t going to get them so he went somewhere where he knew he would. There was never going to be a 50/50 split or any other split with Ledlum.

The bench was virtually non-existent tonight. Other nights it might not be. Some of us tend to be very quick to judge how things are going to go based on one or a couple of games. I will use Ledlum as a recent example.

Coach felt the team was deep enough that he played 11 guys tonight in a game that was back and forth practically all night. Some out of necessity (he actually used four guys at the point due foul trouble and ineffectiveness). Once all is said and done, he will settle on an 8-9 man rotation as most teams use with the rest standing/sitting at the ready.

He doesn’t just force things sometimes. He forces everything and he makes everyone on the court play wild like him.

Nobody can get anything going with him playing this way. He’s a cancer right now and he can’t defend his position. He’s a SG on both sides of the ball and I think Pitino realized that tonight. He sat him for Cruz more than once when Wilcher needed a rest.

I’m actually okay with Alleyne playing the Phil Greene role over watching Jenkins play 100 mph and ignore his teammates. He doesn’t turn the ball over at all on his career and he lets other guys touch the ball.

I know it's only 1 game but I like Ledlum over slaz. And I think Taylor's intangibles and decent production make him a very valuable, albeit different, player. And with he and RJ being underclassmen I would choose them over slaz too.

I have a hard time figuring out exactly what this team does well.

They don't shoot well, they don't defend, their passing is very lazy most of the time. I guess they rebound OK, especially on the offensive glass.

But, if we keep winning while I can't see a strength, that's perfectly fine with me. As fans, we can't really get too nitpicky after a win on the road, against a power conference team.

I still keep going back on my mind to Lavins first year. Took a while till end of January roughly to ( get it ). Then they just turned on a switch. That’s what I hope for at least
