Welcome back LJ Figueroa
Zach B
St. John's coach Mike Anderson says LJ Figueroa hasn't been in team workouts of late. But didn't seem overly concerned. There has been dialogue and he's getting ready for finals. #sjubb
Seems we posters (some of us anyway)
are stressing over this more than MA and LJ :)

I agree General. However, I get a sense Coach MA is a confident man. He wants LJ I am sure but if he leaves this guy will move on

Translation.....there is still a chance he returns, but LJ is truly considering a transfer. If he were definitely coming back and jazzed about things at SJU, he would be at team practices.

Agree JF. This puts us in a tough spot this late in the 'game'.
There's a veritable Figgy clone in JUCO, Tomas Woldetensae of Indian Hills (Dink first mentioned him), but a bunch of high majors, including Illinois, Nebraska, UCONN, are all over the kid.
Figgy would leave a big hole.
Not that it'll matter, but the Indian Hills HC recently said good things about Iron Mike.
At any rate, I'm sure TJC is scoping out 'possibilities'.
Here's hoping this plays out well for the good guys.
Lol.
Does anyone know if he has other visits set?
None confirmed yet, but expect some.

I'm approaching it with the assumption that he's gone, and will be thrilled and shocked if he returns. Wright's been waiting three years to show what he can do. Time to step up.

Good player but let him go. I rather talk about the players that have recommitted and that are working hard to improve for next season Greg Williams and his family get it!!!.

Since the Jarvis days this program has been an annual source of drama and mostly aggravation for us fans. It looks like we finally are putting a staff in place that will create stability and not result in a roster of drama queens and divas. And annual shuffling and scrambling to piece together a starting 5 and no depth

I am SO Glad MA is not cow towing to him and his handlers and is moving full steam ahead. Lets bring in guys that want to play for the name on the front of the uniform instead of the back. Iron Mike seems to be heading down that road at a breakneck pace and it is very freshing

Disagree. Let LJ take his time. If he wants to come back you roll out the red carpet for him. I don't feel like sucking next season and kid is our best possible returnee.

I didn't say not take him back but also lets not harp on his every movement. Until he is back practicing with team I consider him gone and not buying into the program.

I don't have a clue whether LJ will return - hope he does, but won't be surprised either way. I do agree with Billthetruth though, we want kids who want to be here and let's focus on all the good things going on with recruits, excellent AC hires etc. MA is going to be successful here from what I've seen. LJ leaving would set us back this year, but so be it if that happens. Future looks good to me.

I have no problem letting LJ sort through whatever issues he is having but I have very little interest in hearing about what he is doing and the visits he is taking. Ultimately he is either in or out.

Let's put it this way, if we can sign good players I wouldn't hold open a scholarship for him but if the numbers work out when and if he decides to come back fine. He is already at St. John's, played for us for a year (maybe developed somewhat of an affinity for the school), has had a few weeks exposure to the new head coach and is still undecided. Think what others are intimating here is there is no need for CMA to kiss Figgy's fanny.

Amen! I’ve been a broken record on this topic. Somehow some way, this team needs stability. A few years without transfers, or being ineligible, or backing out or suspensions will do wonders. As a fan, the constant drama is draining.

I'm as puzzled as most on the Board over Figgy still romancing other programs, two weeks into the Iron Mike era but let's let it play out a bit longer.
It's in Figgy's best interests to return to the team and thrive in CMA's system next year which makes you wonder why he's entertaining the notion of leaving at this point and why he's listening to bad advice.
But, face it, it's in our best interests that he return as well.
While CMA may soon have to advise Figgy he needs a decision ASAP, with remaining recruits, JUCOS, and transfers committing elsewhere, I'm certain our coach knows what day that is that the clock strikes Twelve.
So, let's trust in Mike about telling Figgy when LJ has to fish or cut bait.
And let's go Redmen.

I am not the least bit puzzled as to what LJ is doing. New staff, question as to how competitive we can be, he has decided to explore his options. I hope he returns but get that he is being romanced by many impressive programs. MA has to sell LJ on his vision while preparing for the possibility he may wind up elsewhere. The reality of college hoops today. We will be ok either way.

LJ please let me introduce you to Van Macon so Van can explain why he believes CMA will be successful at StJohn's.

I agree but also would say that if he wants to be a team leader, he should set the tone and make a firm commitment. That goes for Heron too. They should get out in front of things and set a good tone. Leadership.

If Macom has a relationship with Alex Arias, that could help.
