Welcome back LJ Figueroa

I'd tell LJ he can't use the gym if he's leaving. Same with Simon. They can go down to the Y and use their facilities. ;-)

If you are serious, I disagree. First of all, Figueroa has not left and is not doing anything outside the rules, written or unwritten. There would probably not be a better way to ensure his leaving. I had very mixed feelings about Simon as a player but he played hard, represented the school well, and, again, has every right to earn money. To deny them access would be very petty, as well as send a VERY bad message to future recruits. If your post is tongue in cheek, you got me.

Nah. I was just messing. That's why I put that little wink at the end.

Obviously, I need to read Emojis for Idiots!!!

Sitting out a season when you are now able to play for an actual very good college basketball coach who’s system is made for your talents is absolutely ridiculous. Especially if it’s because you’re “advisor” has his hand out and a coach(Hsu) who is just using you to get a job. The same coach who already screwed u once before is also ridiculous. Be a man and honor your commitment to the school that helped you make a name for yourself. Wake up already kid.

I realize my perceptions are often biased rooting for this program, but it really seems like key players stick around after a coaching change much more often for many other programs compared to ours. When we get a new guy everyone seems to clean house without even giving the coach a chance. I'm hoping LJ and Heron break this mold and actually stay. With all the transferring these days it's creating an inflation of ego with all the schools clamoring for players even when they're in a program already. It's kind of like online dating where people keep assuming they can do better because there are infinite options. Then many of them sadly realize that staying put was the better option. Very little loyalty this day in age unfortunately.

This is his life, and he is free to do with it what he wants. And whatever he decides, we should get behind him and support him. I don't think anyone should ever question his commitment to the school. When he was the only one diving after loose balls, he was committed. When he was the only one that wanted to play any type of defense, he was committed. When he played with the energy and emotion that seemed to escape all of our other players, he was committed.

And let's not forget that these kids aren't only committing to the school. They are committing to coaches and teammates as well. Guess what? Coaches. Gone. Teammates (Clark, Trimble, Ponds, Simon, and potentially Heron). Gone.

No one here should have any complaints if he decides to transfer.

Let's just wait and see. Certainly nice to see him working out with team yesterday. Not sure he'd do that if his mind was made up he was leaving. I suspect MA can be pretty persuasive selling his program/vision/style of play.

I hope Figueroa decides to stay. I think he will thrive under Coach MA’s system. He seems to fit like a glove and will be a star in it. He also would not have to sit out a year as I believe he would as a transfer.
Now with that being said how can anyone blame him for looking around and wondering what the hell is going on here. Why should I stick around for something I didn’t sign up for? There are a lot of great situations that he could easily slide in to. That is reality.
Hopefully MA can make him a believer. However, we should hope the kid makes the best decision for himself. He has a bright future to look forward to.

Let’s also not for get the school only makes a one year commit to their players as their scholarship is renewed annually.

LJ is a helluva player and would be our number one recruit if he comes back. But when it comes down to it he’s going to make money playing basketball somewhere. He owes it to himself to make the best choices that will maximize his income over a basketball career which will last 10-15 years at most.

Fingers crossed he returns for one more year.
So, did LJ workout with the actual team yesterday? And not just the guys that are graduating/leaving early for draft?
By the looks of it, it wasn’t a team workout but just a couple of guys getting some work in

Don’t think is was a official team practice

As others have said, if he was working out w Williams, Heron and Roberts , that might be a positive sign. But, if I remember correctly he worked our W Simon,Clark and Trimble, which isn’t too encouraging.

You can’t conclude anything from workouts imo at this point. He also needs to finish this semester, so coming back from WKU visit seems logical.

True. But, I find it concerning that the workout w GSJ was only for players that announced they were potentially leaving, why wasn’t any of the returning players at the workout?

Of course he very possibly leaves. To assume anything at this point is difficult.
