Welcome back LJ Figueroa
Heron could still leave to play overseas. Never heard an announcement that he was staying.
Yeah but why do that for a 'meh' league and put yourself totally out of the loop for your NBA dreams?
Why not stay and thrive in CMA's system 1 more year, to showcase your skills, even with a losing team?
And somehow, I don't think the Johnnies will have a losing record next season.
I think CMA and TJC would pull some rabbits out of JUCO--even if Figgy left--and we'll be competitive.
But who knows.

Well Heron was already shown in that practice video. And he didn't enter the NBA draft. Seems like he'd be gone by now and not practicing with the team if he was going to leave for overseas.
Let me get this never ending soap opera straight - acknowledging that none of us seem to know the "real facts" as opposed to the "fake news" etc. I have no clue.

1.LJ apparently loves St. Johns.
2.LJ has already adjusted to New York.
3.Lj has already adjusted to and played with his St. John's teammates..
4.His family gets to see him play - here not there wherever ":there " is.
5.He will undoubtedly start next year and be a key cog in our wheels to success.
5.LJ is already a well respected star here.
6.if he transfers he will have to adjust and start all over again.
7.if he transfers he will have to sit out a year.
8.if he transfers he will not be able to have his family attend games as much.
9.if he transfers he will no longer have foolish posters like me obsessing about what he is doing lol

hmmm, let me balance that equation :)

all the best
Unless he gets a waiver due to a change in coach and can play right way
Unless he goes to UConn which is closer to MA

I believe, and hope, he stays. You never know what he is thinking

I think Heron returns. Last year he was injured and really couldn’t show case himself and he values education. But it’s not a given. I don’t think you can get a waiver for change of coach unless you are a incoming freshman.

Agree, that's also my 'gut'...which has been wrong in the past. Lol.
And man, both Heron and Figgy would thrive in CMA's system.
Hope they stay.

Funny.......I was thinking about the possibility of Hsu to Arkansas. I would not be shocked if that is what's going on here.

...been thinking the same thing JF.
Still doesn't make 'sense' for Figgy to sacrifice a year to rejoin a guy who recruited him initially to NMS and then 'bolted'.
But weirder things happen.
Lol.
If this really ends up being a situation where we would have to hire Hsu to keep Figueroa, i say let them both walk. I suspect CMA feels the same way. Shady business...
If cma hired hsu just to have lj come back, i can't speak for anyone else, but I'd lose all respect for him
transferring to sit out a year, when you're already 21 years old, is pretty much career suicide...

but whatever...
Oh well, that's his choice.
I say let him do what he wants

In minority but who cares if that’s what Hsu is doing? Give him a job. Again, shadiness is part of this world of college hoops. Willard hired a kid’s coach and it not only saved his career but breathed life back into SHU who was passed us by. We need relentless guys like Hsu. He’s a great recruiter LJ or no LJ.
LJ with Simon and Clark working out...
Just need to know soon. Iron Mike may have gotten the 'heads-up', who knows? It'll be challenging to 'replace' Figgy at this late date for sure.We shall see.

There’s clearly different philosophies and styles Between Hsu and MA. It just doesn’t seem like a good match.

Disagree Mike. Forget Whitehead. That was a footnote. The Hall has passed us by--not because of Whitehead--but because Willlard and his Staff have dramatically outworked, out-coached and outperformed any St. John's HC and Staff the past 9 - 10 years.

It is moot re Hsu

imo
We will no longer be outworked by anyone.
MA seems to bring the ingredient Louis Pasteur possessed when the latter said:
“Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal. My strength lies solely in my tenacity!”
Scary to think that MA’s goal seems to be - ultimately - the last one standing in the NCAAs and with his tenacity....wow what we might enjoy.

Totally disagree if Hsu is(was) leveraging LJ then screw him. CMA is here to build a program not just for next year

Dear Mike ,
I fully understand your position but remember we just had a head coach and an AHC who did not see eye to eye and look where that got us. Up a creek without a paddle. We can’t repeat that mistake again.
We have a good strong leader with a proven track record , system and a plan. In order for him to succeed , and like any successful leader , he needs to surround himself with people who believe in his vision for the program and whose skills complement his.
In any event Paultzman said it is moot and we, the board/ fan base must accept and move forward.

I'm just hoping Figgy ain't 'moot' with Hsu.
Lol.

I was disappointed when Tariq O. transferred, but it was understandable. For Figgy to leave then sit a year, I think that's dumb.
