Here's my hope--- he comes back, gets his degree in 3 years (easy enough at SJU) and is POY and leading scorer in the BE, second team AA, and mid first round selection in 2022.
On the other hand if he goes, I wish him all the luck in the world, a great kid from a legacy family and one class act.
Supposedly, it (education) is important based on what I heard. That's not to say he wouldn't pass up on guaranteed money, but it says he'll likely wise decision.Room112 post=433922 said:BrookJersey Redmen post=433903 said:MJ and OLV hit the nail on the head.

Right. And I would not discount the value of an education to him and his family.
I am on the other side of the education piece. Not that it isn't important, but that if he leaves school he can never finish. If he plans on playing basketball professionally, that will be for a finite amount of time. If he is lucky he will play into his late 30's so you are looking at a 15-20 year career at max (usually). After that he can go back to school and should be financially able to do so.MJDinkins post=433925 said:Supposedly, it (education) is important based on what I heard. I don't disagree at all with you. But maybe Julian has things he wants to accomplish before he moves forward as a professional.Anthony Mattia post=433927 said:I am on the other side of the education piece. My larger point is we should never substitute our own judgement for that of the actual player. If he comes back and gets injured or whatever we don't pay that price he does.

Agreed. The problem is what he thinks is best for him now might not look like the best option in hindsight a few years down the road.

27. Denver Nuggets: Julian Champagnie (St. John's, SF, Junior)Twin brother Justin received more national recognition in the ACC, but scouts are also tracking Julian for his superior shooting. The 6'8" wing hit 2.4 threes per game and should be a 20-point scorer next year in the Big East.

That’s 2022 everyone!
We can speculate based on past articles, but we don't 100 percent know what that advice is, though.allnet post=433989 said:I think that Julian will listen to his parents advice.
There are so many sound reasons for him to stay
in college for another year and he has the
right parents with the right value system.
I have enough confidence in our coach and the
staffs recruiting ability, that more good stuff is in the works.
Let's just all stay healthy and enjoy a banner year because
WE DESERVE IT !!!!

Is Julian miffed at all about the great year he had yet he was still 'snubbed' for many things. Led BE in scoring but wasn't unanimous 1st team. Therefore didn't win BE POY. Didn't win Haggerty. Just wonder we all felt he was 'the man' for us and did amazing this year but for all of that he still came up short.
Maybe I'm bored too /media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png
Personally, I don't see that. He lost out to older players (POY) and Haggerty to a senior that had a comparable season. He received plenty of accolades, including consistent coverage from the NY Post praising him, which probably matters most for a NY kid that was an under-the-radar recruit. And if he returns those accolades are only going to increase ten-fold leading up to the season and, potentially, more accolades and exposure if he has a good year. He's going to be the presumptive POY (perhaps along with Gillespie) if he returns.
Justin is staying put in the NBA Draft.allnet post=433998 said:Hope So. All parents love to see their children play together

Practically all of Pitts starters have left. So if his brother remains
in college why not with his brother , near home, near his folks, MSG
and big city exposure for basketball and future business connections.
