That's the second time Julian has made a comment strongly intimating there were unhappy campers last year. Results will ultimately tell the tale, but I take it as a positive that our best player seems to feel the group vibe is better this year.

 QUEENS, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2021) – With the Red Storm’s season opener just over 24 hours away, St. John’s junior Julian Champagnie has been named to the preseason watch list for the Naismith Trophy, presented annually to the top college basketball player in the nation.   

Champagnie, a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team has also been named to preseason watch lists for the Julius Erving Award and the NABC Player of the Year award.

It's insane to think that JC could go 50% 40% 90% this year.  It's nearly unheard of at the NCAA level, but he won't have to force as much and he's a high IQ guy so I can dare to dream.

I really don’t get the sentiment toward some of our former players from a majority of this board. They left. Gone. Poof. Vamoose. It doesn’t matter what their names are, or which ones you may have cared about the most…they’re gone. If the ones some of you hold such a candle for loved it here so much, and they’re such true Johnnies, why are they gone? 

And, I don’t blame them. If they wanted to to go play somewhere else, that’s fine. A couple of them put in some solid work and deserve some of the accolades they get. 

I want guys that want to be here. Losing Sanders sucks too, but I agree with Champaigne 100%, you need to have guys that are all-in here. It’s true in any sport. Look at my buddy Harry Kane. This is gonna be a fun year and we have guys that were all recruited by this coaching staff and guys that want to play here…in Queens.

The really good news is that I believe he can now actually accept a Mercedes for being a Mercedes All-Star lol
