Welcome back Julian!

Scouts won’t lie to Julian. He needs to get a step quicker and he needs to learn to put the ball on the deck.

the thing about Julian right now, is when he catches the ball on the elbow or behind the 3pt line, he’s basically no threat to attack the rim. His handle is too weak and his drive is a step too slow to actually make it to the hoop. He’s going to have to work on that, because in the league if you’re a 40% 3pt shooter like he was in college this season, defenses will just run you off the 3pt line, and Julian needs to add that slashing layer to his game.

He should come back and work on it

All of that is true. But how many guys who had a weak handle as a college sophomore came back and had an NBA-quality one after a junior year?

He can work on quickness, but is he going to be doing weighted carries in sand all summer wearing a parachute? Or is it easier to say bye bye to school and take a European paycheck?

Agree with Jack - wherever he plays, Julian is going to have to work on putting the ball on the deck, defense, and maybe extend his range a little bit.  I personally believe that he's going to be able to do all of those things (why wouldn't you believe he can make improvements after watching him Year 1 to Year 2??) and very possibly be an NBA player or at least a high-level Euro player.  But he needs another year, IMHO.

Michael Qualls a few years ago had a good sophomore season at Arkansas and flirted with leaving early, all he was an elite athlete at the time, came back junior year worked on shooting and handles and became projected as a late first/early second rounder by the end of the season, played against UNC in the tournament and had a great game.  Made the top 60 combine invite list that year, was pretty much guaranteed to get drafted, however tore his ACL during the combine, and ended up just signing with OKC and playing in the G-League.

With Julian if his goal is the NBA, leaving early and going overseas would be the worst option to take, rarely do you see a guy in the states that's not on a draft board decide to go overseas and then works his way back to the league.  College basketball is by far the best option to get exposure and raise your draft stock (if you have any shot at all at the league) that's why 95% of the top players choosing the college basketball route, rather than going overseas or going to the g-league.  There's no replica for the coaching, facilities, crowds, national TV exposure, and depending on what league your in going up against future NBA players night in and night out.

Champy just finished his sophomore year.  I think he can improve a lot in two years before joining the NBA.  His body can fill out and he can work on his quickness to make it pro-worthy.  He can also learn a lot about the game under CMA.

I dont see any scenario where Champy returns to St Johns.  If he decides to return to college, he will enter the portal too.

This is a rebuild.  Hes not sticking around for that.

Next season will not be the normal rebuild at SJU as past seasons were. SJU will be rebuilding with experienced ball players not freshmen, The reason the transfer portal will pass 1500 players is a search for more playing time and one thing SJU has available is playing time.
The staff has to go and select players who fit Anderson’s criteria and offer in some cases starting positions. They should have no trouble replacing both Williams and Earlington. This could mean attracting players who aren’t in the portal right now but who would come to SJU if playing time was available.

I know this one stings for you buddy, I'm sorry.  This new transfer rule sucks.

If Julian comes back though he'll be St. John's almost every school is rebuilding, it's like NBA free agency on steriods, it's stupid.

Champ is a savvy kid who has very good advisors, his parents. I'm sure all options are on the table for him right now. I have no ideas what kind of a bond he has with CMA, but I'm still going to assume that the portal is a consideration, even though he hasn't entered it just yet. I'll assume he's waiting to see how things shake out with his NBA draft chances, and with our team, before deciding whether to enter the portal.

Things shook out horribly
And if Anderson wants to keep that never had a losing record intact thing, don’t be surprised.....,

But no way he comes back to a team that just lost entire roster
Makes no sense for him

Every team is losing most of their roster.  Our Arkansas team just played in the elite 8, two days ago, and just lost a 2 year starter, with rumors of many more leaving.  This new free transfer rule is basically like these players girlfriends giving them a free weekend to cheat and go try to find a hotter girlfriend with no consequences, unless their girlfriend is super hot and they are getting all the sex they can handle, they going to take advantage of that weekend.

Let’s dream a bit: Champy returns with his brother in tow.

No inside info but lets not stop that from fanning the flames /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

So let me understand the logic here.  This team wasn't good enough to make the tournament this past season, but Champ won't return because the roster that failed to make the NCAA's was decimated?
