Welcome Andre Curbelo

Best back court in the Big East? You have two guards with basically the same skill set and who both need the ball to be effective. Unless one of them develops a long range jump shot, they don’t compliment each other at all. Hoping this happens but calling them the best backcourt in the conference with what Creighton and others are bringing to the table is a stretch.
Posh alone defensively confused the shit out of some guys. Curbelo when healthy can do the same with his quick hands. I think people are forgetting just how good he is when healthy. Fully expect to see a "Red Swarm" headline in a local newspaper as we manhandle someone defensively. Hopefully it's Nova and not only NJIT though.

The ball movement will also be the best it's been in a while.

Yes, in the country. Good guards win games in March.

St. John’s just got a lot more attractive to the players in the portal. Scorers LOVE playing with guys who will get them the ball.

This was the main piece to the puzzle. We have a guy who can come run the show, and take pressure off of Posh.. which will undoubtedly make him an even more effective player.

We can sell the fact we have 2 of the best pgs in cbb. Everybody else will improve with Belo coming as well.

And trust me, the other big East coaches are not happy about this at all. Many games we were a ball handler away from winning the past 3 years.

Yea I mean we only led the league in assists last year, and that was with all the blown layups.

If next seasons results decide Anderson’s future it is fitting that he was able to sign Curbelo. He will be able to play pressure defense and uptempo basketball to his hearts content.
This is true, however I look to for us to be better in late clock situations, and when the pace isn’t in our favor.

Love Posh, but he’s only really been effective at one pace. The intriguing thing about Belo is his ability to change speeds and deliver absolute dimes.

The bugs are just gonna love this guy.

Wow. A backcourt of Posh and Curbello
This is going to be a fun team to watch next season
Add a couple of shooters to the mix and we could be a dangerous team

Curbelo should give us a little bit of what Dunn gave us. Curbelo a combo guard who can really get past people and pass as well. I think Curbelo’s gave suits Mike Anderson’s system and vice versa. Curbelo will become a better player here imo.

U hope guys in the portal, especially shooters, see the benefits of having 2 guards who can penetrate. One would assume teaming w posh and curbelo is appealing. We will see

Can someone post slater’s reply to braziler’s tweet about or need being shooting shooting shooting. Slater said we understand the assignment implying we’re working to bring in a shooter or 2.

A great 'get' who, with Posh, creates a dynamic 1 - 2 guard punch. Nice start, that hopefully makes the team a compelling story for other key needs in the Portal.

I’d add, we have a couple young talented wings in Pinzon and AJ Storr. Talent ticking up slowly but surely. We actually have a big or two as well. Let’s get another difference-maker. Shooting is certainly called for.

Well, today is a day to stay positive. He has D1 talent. Hopefully, coming home gets him excited to play at a high level. The last two scholarships need to be kids who are good shooters who can score. Will wait to see or hear who the targets are.

I think this is a great start. Definitely a high risk high reward pickup. Given where we are as a program and the current roster, I don’t think we could do much better for an initial transfer piece.

Of course Curbelo has flaws and the jury’s out on how he will blend in with Posh. But we simply are in no position to pass on this level of talent. As others have said, let’s bring in a scorer and a shooter at the 3 and 4 positions and maintain and our core (so far so good). If we do this, I think we have a puncher’s chance to make the tournament next year. From my perspective, we couldn’t ask for a better outcome given the current circumstances.
