Welcome Andre Curbelo

Great effin news!!

Get a pure shooter and a big man who can play within 15 feet of the basket and rebound and we’re cooking.

I think Pinzon can be the shooter we are looking for. But obviously we need another on too.

Heres my starting 5 for next year:

PG- Posh
SG- Curbello
SF- Pinzon
PF- Niwye
C- Soriano

Storr, Wusu, King and Stanley off the bench.

Lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The IQ of this basketball team with Posh, Curbello and Pinzon on the floor at the same time will be villanova level IQ.
Need much more than that to be okay. Andre is a nice start but need more.

I've said it before but Anderson's employment status at this time next year now pretty much lands fully on the shoulders of Curbelo. If Freshman year Curbelo returns then this team and Anderson will be fine. If it's the Curbelo from this past season then we are in for another coaching search next spring. Hoping for the former.
lets see who else comes aboard and how the existing team performs, before all the pressure on Curbelo's shoulders.

Let the best backcourt in the BE talk commence. And rest of a roster be damned, you start with 2 good guards and you’re in pretty good shape.
Glad this is wrapped up. As I mentioned( and others) was done for awhile. Now… yes they are working VERY hard to fill the shooting, wing voids. VERY HARD. I’ll knkw more this weekend. Have a great holiday everyone

You are really pushing this Nyiwe thing, but even if we land no one else, he's not going to be a starter.

Would be truly shocked if starting PF is not a portal guy, though.

It's 65 and sunny.
I'm on vacation next week.
The Mets are leading 3-0.
And Curbelo commits.
Sigh, something really bad is about to happen.
MainMan, just live in the moment!!!

Thanks, great to know.

I think it's one of the best backcourts in the country, not just the conference. Staff can really swing for the fences on filling PF spot with a SF with decent size and touch. We can sell Wheeler and Champ's obvious improvement from where they started. If you come to St. John's with a SF's mentality, you can score a lot at the 4 for us.

I guess I picked a good day to wear a Fleece STJ jacket. Welcome aboard Andre!!!!

Welcome Aboard Hasan Minhaj GIF by Patriot Act

Best back court in the Big East? You have two guards with basically the same skill set and who both need the ball to be effective. Unless one of them develops a long range jump shot, they don’t compliment each other at all. Hoping this happens but calling them the best backcourt in the conference with what Creighton and others are bringing to the table is a stretch.

List the backcourts you’d take.

We were bringing back the highest returning assist and steal duo before we added Curbelo. Shooting is a concern of course.

And I will really disagree with you about posh needing the ball to be effective. He has thrived when playing off the ball these 2 years, and his best asset doesn’t involve the offensive end at all.

Very excited about this news. If AC is back in form next year, our back court is going to be one of the best in the country IMO.

I don’t know if you’re an Islanders fan but Bossy passing is pretty crappy news even though it was expected. One of my earlier sports memories is his mid-air backhander in Vancouver in the ‘82 Finals.

Great news, very excited about this!! I don’t think either will ever be great three point shooters but I expect each can improve enough to be proficient. That’s all we need with all the other skills they bring to the table. As others have said, bring a couple of shooters now and I think next season looks promising.

Great news! Always happy when a quality kid chooses St. John's. I'll leave it to CMA to figure out how to use them.
