Wagner, Wed., Nov. 13, 6:30p, FS-2

I gotsick of listening to the game and turned it off.
Seen the score and seen they pulled away and won by 21pnts.
I'm glad this part of the schedule (where a close game vs a Wagner is embarrassing) is over.

Time for the team to play for real now, no more clowning around.

Wow... that was embarrassing. Gonna ignore the "good" 6 minute stretch we had there at the end... overall- that was ugly to watch...

-Starting with the crowd... The Towson exhibition had more people there... maybe im just in my own SJU "bubble"- but thought the first time playing as a Ranked team in 5 years- people would have been out in force... anyway...
-That could have been the ugliest 28 mins of basketball I have witnessed... not was i was expecting 3rd game of the year. We are lucky Wagner is putrid- would have lost playing like this to Quinnipiac
-Zuby is in his own Head...
-Lastly, and more scary.... Kadary looks completely uninterested... was this his on court demeanor at The Hall? What i thought was "cool and collected" -> looks more "i wonder whats for dinner later" apathy....

Hopefully people show out at MSG...

That has always been Richmond's on court demeanor. Nothing to be concerned about. It's ... different. But has zero to do with his game or his production. Those will be there.

Poor effort tonight that may have been predicted by change in starting lineup.
Pitino trying to send messages to a few players.
Kadary Richmond has to start making a difference on offense other than passing...especially when the team needs a quick turnaround from the anemic effort like in the first half.
Prey will be challenging Zuby and others for minutes very soon because he plays a sound all-around game.

Wagner wanted to make it a rock fight because that's their identity. Copeland is very much cut from the same cloth as Sha in that respect, and it was how that team clawed its way to the NCAA tournament last year.

Of course we didn't play well the first half and then some, but it's kind of a nice for us to have a clearly below part game and still win by 20+.

Sunday should be fun. I know everyone, since we are St. John's fans, has the "bad taste" of last season's early Michigan debacle looming over this one. But it's fun to have games like this in the OOC and with the Giants and Jets both being awful (and Giants on a bye), it would be awesome if we can pack the Garden. I'm going with a contingent. You won't have a chance for another big time game at MSG until January, I believe, so let's show up and be loud for this group.

I think the starting lineup was simply Pitino changing things up to see how different combinations work together. Except perhaps for Zuby, where it was also probably a motivational tool. For Kadary and RJ, I think it was probably seeing how the group that started played together plus rewarding Dunlap for a great game against Q and giving some extra burn to Scott who played like 1 minute that game because he wasn't feeling well.

I’d have to watch a replay to pinpoint the exact moment, but there was one defensive possession where Vince had a real ill advised lunge at the ball which allowed his man to miss a shot and get his own rebound and score before Vince could get back into position.

Pitino sent Zuby to the scorers table right after it happened, and that was it for Vince.

Interesting that Zuby got to play through mistakes tonight but not Vince
Noticed the same thing and too Vince’s credit, he didn’t sulk…cheered for his teammates

Pre-game in the Red White room John Minko said exactly that, wanted to see different players and how they would do.

Kadary had 7 assists! Not to shabby

If Pitino's plan for Kadary Richmond is to turn him into an NBA player, at the current pace, he will go undrafted. He has to show an offensive game, especially from deep.
Two points against the Wagners of college basketball does not impress NBA scouts.
Sunday will be a better barometer for Kadary to be more productive or settle for long passes.
