Wagner, Wed., Nov. 13, 6:30p, FS-2

Wagner was obviously doing it to limit possessions. The coach in the Creighton game came out and said the same thing last night. He openly stated he was going to wait until late in the shot clock to run their offense. Copeland turned a 40 point loss into a 21 point loss with that strategy.

Houston Christian had several shot clock violations like Wagner, and Creighton doesn't play pressure defense.
Houston Christian also scored 12 points at half time. lol

Another thing jumping out to me on rewatch is Devion Smith deserves some credit for his effort on the boards. Smallest guy on the team but attacked the ball many times, actually ended up leading the team in rebounding
One can like it or not but Pitino does not play ”positions” by and large; not totally but to a large degree. Regardless of size, Smith appears to be a committed rebounder.

He really goes after it on the boards.

Sometimes, he's fighting with his own teammates for it, which leads to lost rebounds. Frankly, the rest of the team may just have to get out the way, because it doesn't look like he will back down, ever.

Although Prey has shown some positive signs, the center position has been disappointing this year. For a seven footer, Vince has not impressed me at all. Has Maker been officially redshirted? I thought Maker's strengths were rebounding and blocking shots. These are areas which need improvement. Thanks in advance for the information.

Had the pleasure this past week to get caught up with 114 elitist mjmaherjr, Darrin, Tom B and Beast of the East at the Quinnipiac game. Last night got to hang with 114 guys Ralph, OLV72, and weathermannyc easing the ugliness of the first 30 minutes of Wagner game. All die hard and true blue Johnnies. Thanks to Tom B for the hookup and mjm for coordinating.

As my buddies texted me last night after the game. Ken is total 114 guy

Maker skinny, young and raw. Needs to red shirt.

Kadary’s style might just take some getting used to. He reminds me of Kyle Anderson aka “slow mo”

the broadcast crew last night was a lot more complimentary of his play than I was personally seeing. I enjoy his vision and calm demeanor handling the ball, where I struggle with him is defensively. He got blown by several times, and he looked timid. Didn’t seem interested in mixing it up on the defensive end, being aggressive and fighting for loose balls/rebounds.

As we’ve discussed, our bigs are often pulled out of the paint defensively. Meaning guys like Richmond have to be willing to board consistently. Last year, Chris Ledlum was an unsung hero for this very reason. We need that again from guys.
Kadary has historically been a great rebounder.

Maker needs to work on his body this year. I’m super high on him going forward. This is the rare case a redshirt makes sense in this new era.

If Zuby majorly struggles this year, I do think Pitino burns that redshirt. He’s probably already our best shot blocker.

Obviously, there is a lot of fun ahead with this roster. That said, I do agree with the concerns at the center position. Vince's defensive mobility needs a lot of work and Zuby is undersized at that position.

On a positive note, the freshman roommates and now sophomore tandem of Wilcher and Dunlap are my favorites. Looking forward to both of these "home grown" underclassman taking a big step forward.
