Wagner, Fri. Nov. 13, 6pm - FS1 & WMCA AM 570

This has been a fun game to watch.

There has been some good coaching and player development going on at StJohn's during the last few days.

Congratulations to Mullin and his team for their first victory.

Good game overall, Otis is right, night and day from the exhibition opener. Nothing to get crazy about but in a year where wins may be tough we got one. Sims, Ellison, and Mussini certainly look like the start of a program.

game went semi better than I thought it would. Mussini and Sima impressed me

What a transformation from just a couple of games ago. Congrats to Coach Mullin!
Doesn't matter to me whether we win a single Big East game this season or not, this is going to be a good group to get behind over the next few years--players and staff alike.

I hope the refs don't call every game like today. Hopefully they loosen up a bit as the season goes on. Mussini and Sima were the brightest stars. Would like to have Mussini play off the ball a bit more to free him to score since they will struggle all year.

Congratulations Coach Mullin on your first career win. May you have 500 more coming your way.

Congratulations Coach Lavin on your return back to the broadcast booth. Funny to see him talk about the team at the half.

We won. That's all that matters. We know there will likely be mighty struggles ahead. We need to win the games we should.

Sima is already better than Obekpa was as a junior. Obekpa's basketball iq was horrendous. Blocked shots are very overrated. Sima will in tbe NBA.

Let's hold off on putting any of our players in the NBA. Let's just hope he stays here 4 years and leads us to something special

I think the calls will decrease as the season goes on. Last season the big emphasis was on those touch fouls and they were called a lot more in the beginning of the season compared to the end. It was/will be a combo of players learning to not commit the fouls and refs getting sick of calling the fouls every half court set.

On a separate note, great to get the season started with a win. The team played better than I expected. One thing I would like to see is either Ellison or M'Vouika take the ball up against the press and let Mussini play off the ball a little bit and let him work off of screens to get open looks. His 3 point shooting is obviously his best trait.

Another thing I noticed is how much Darien Williams reminds me of Obekpa. They both wear their shorts higher and even have many of the same mannerisms. I almost thought CO came back to play in the game to surprise us all.

I dare 1 person to say they didn't think there was a possibility we would go 0for as of the other day including me :) In light of what just happened in france this doesnt even mean anything right now. This is a fucked up world that we have to deal with. We have friends there who are fine but I'm not so sure I'm even going to complain after a loss this year

Tonight hurts. Hope everyone from our Paris Campus is fine tonight

Very different approach then what we saw under coach Lavin. The high flyers are gone, as is the one on one play, replaced by players that work together, and play without a sense of entitlement, but with a sense of urgency.

Fundamentals like blocking out will be crucial, as we are not going to be able to out jump high level division one players. We couldn't even out jump Wagner. I think 5 different Johnnies hit 3s. That may be a first. Only 1 dunk that I can recall, a wide open one by Sima. Obekpa may have been a better athlete, but Sima has the better attitude, higher B ball IQ, and has a better all around game. This season is about Coach getting comfortable on the sidelines, and the young players learning and developing. I would like to see some nice wins for Johnson and Mvouika's sake, as they are the seniors and trusted in Coach Mullin. Jones finally throwing that wide body around. Yes, it was just Wagner, but every win matters, as it builds confidence for the team and the staff.

Congrats to Coach Mullin on his first win. May there be many more to come. I anticipate his teams will model his career at SJU. With a tremendous commitment to hard work and conditioning he improved as a player each season. Those who buy into his vision , and I doubt he will recruit knuckleheads who won't , will constantly improve. It may not be as quickly as we want but the improvement will be there. It seems like we have a nice foundation in Mussini, Sima and Ellison. Add the talent we have sitting out and you can see the start of something special. Sit back and enjoy the ride I promise it will be fun.

Interesting? Maybe to you but there's only one stat that matters.

I think we looked much better better than our ranking of 197 in the country. This game left us with feeling of relief

Let's have a rematch with St Thomas and that guy Reyes. He must have made Frederico sharpen his game.

Frederico looked like the Italian version of Mark Price.

More importantly, I hope the team doesn't continue to shoot FTs so poorly and that they don't give up so many offensive rebounds.
