Nova is actually a pretty bad matchup for us. Offensively they want to spread teams out and have the personnel to do so with Dixon being a shooting threat. Obviously, Soriano having to defend anywhere outside the paint has been a major problem for us.

Defensively they want to pack it in to limit drives and would rather give up catch and shoot 3s. Shooting 3s is not something we want to do too much of and we're not particularly good at it. Nova is also an excellent defensive rebounding and offensive rebounding is probably our singular most important driver of efficiency on offense.

Going to have to hit some 3s in this one and our guards/wings can't get beat off the dribble because Soriano likely won't be there to help.

I think the Dixon vs Soriano matchup will decide it. Dixon’s gotten the better of him in the past. I think guys like Bamba, Hart, Longino and Burton are the exact type of wings you’d want to have if you are guarding RJ, I don’t see that as matchup advantage for us in this game.

Dixon has gotten the better of him in the past but this is a better version of Soriano. Soriano will get the better of Dixon in the paint this time around. What concerns me is Dixon’s ability to step outside and either bang down the three or drive to the basket. I don’t think Joel can handle Dixon out up top. But, I’m sure Pitino will have plan for how to deal with that.

Soriano needs to give max effort on defense. Really accept his role and dig deeper. He’s had some games where he did a good job just needs to have complete commitment to playing defense. Pitno called him out. Hopefully he takes the cue.
 
Wusu and Seton Hall just took down Providence @ Providence. Providence was the one team that scared me having watched a few of their early games. Now I think that we can beat them.

Watching the Nova vs X men next. Don't you just love BE basketball?

Dixon looks like he followed the Soriano routine to get slimmer and fitter .

Refs tried to give the Friars a shot at tying it up on the out of bounds call with Dawe . He got mauled by the Friar defenders and they gave the ball to PC . Terrible call , even after video review .

Butler had the Friars beat too but , screwed up by not fouling .

Great weekend Picked up some scuts at McFaddens they went to Temple and stayed at the Embassy Suites. Hit $350 on a machine in AC at the Trop then blew it on a big booty Latina at Stillettos!

Two big questions on this one….

1. Can our guards score against Novas guards who are bigger, more physical and play tough D. If we play them even, we are in good shape.

2. How Soriano does against Dickson who has had the better of him in the past. Dickson not a true 5 but a very quick and skilled big that Joel has had issues with in the past. See Dayton

I believe that our wings….Taylor, Luis and maybe Dunlap will be the difference makers in this contest with a big game from Ledlum as well.
