Villanova (MSG), Sat., Jan. 11 , 7p, CBSSN

This was excellent excellent win. We broke DA Nova back and made them humble. Don’t have any RESPAKT for the Nova fans tonight they were be quiet but don’t be fooled by this because they have no RESPAKT in the past for us when we have coach Anderson or Roberts or Lavin. HAWK TUAH to Philadelphia.

I was at the game so am just reading these posts. Thank you very much for having faith in Wilcher. He only made the two plays that turned the game around. According to the basketball experts on this board, Pitino should have put him on the subway back to Queens. SMFH
So bad play should be ignored? In game comments are in the moment and a reflection of what is going on and frequently a venting of a fans frustration; they are not a Karnak prediction of the future because an opinion regarding what happened does not in any way predict what is going to happen.
And I reply because I made a comment about taking Wilcher out, because from my view, he needed to sit a few minutes, doesn’t mean I was right but that was my gut feeling from my couch commenting on a message board. A comment regarding a move coaches make all the time. I never said he should be sent to Siberia. Personally hate these hindsight snarky comments regarding “in the moment” message board opinions.

Pitino looked so happy during his press conference. He loves this team and its grit. His game plan using Scott on Dixon, and Luis on the Vill PG was brilliant. Using Luis there took away the Smith/Dixon switch mismatch Vill was counting on, and Scott was brilliant covering Dixon outside. Dixon looked so uncomfortable with Scott on him. Scott played over 38 minutes in this game!

Will the posters who claimed Rick was losing his fastball please raise their hand. There is a bushel of rotten tomataoes I want to have delivered. They earned every tomato. 🤣🤣🤣
Nights like this give me hope that Pitino will stick around for awhile despite some of the frustration he's expressed over the past year. I mean the guy lives for basketball. You can tell there's nothing he'd rather be doing with his life than coaching a team in a packed Garden on a Saturday night in his hometown. I literally don't think he can live without it.

Proud of our fan base before , during , and after the game . It’s amazing how powerful we are when we show up like this . The best is yet to come .

Also finally met Jack Williams outside as I spotted the Harrison Jersey . I’m 6’2 225 and I felt tiny next to Jack , do you hoop at all Jack ? You also have an amazing mother !

Let’s go Johnnies !!!!!!!!

Graduated in 2011 and been coming to games since 2008. This crowd was among the best I’ve ever been a part of. Always tougher to tell in the lower bowl it’s usually more Johnnies fans and then more visiting fans elsewhere in the building but we were way more abundant and louder. Never noticed the nova fans. What a fun game and such an easy team to root for. I can’t wait for Tuesday to do it all over.

Absolutely nothing "snarky" about my post. I choose not to post during games because I am too busy rooting for St Johns. Anyone who knows me, realizes that I never say anything negative about our players except for he did not play well.

None of us on this board has any control over what goes on during these games so I choose to spend my time encouraging our players, mistakes and all. To be honest, while at yesterday's game, there were a few "WTF"s", after which a "you are better than that". Additionally I choose not to second guess every move that is made during games. I have been watching St Johns basketball for over 65 years and I am an Alumnus. I am also a realist and realize that nothing I post on a message board during a game is going to happen because of my post, so why waste my time.

We have different ways of viewing things, and that is ok. At 76 years old, I choose to look for what is right, not what is wrong or not going the way I would do it, in life and in basketball.

The Garden was electric yesterday and you would have thought everyone on the LIRR going home was Family. Saw Beast after the game and all we could do was SMILE.

Let's Go Johnnies!!!

Screw this elitst bull crap! Not all of us are wealthy enough to sit in 114 and have lobster rolls and Bronx Pale ales served on silver platters by aspiring actresses with large boobs in halter tops and mini skirts. We wanted rally towels up in the blues as well.

Well, I also hate those giveaways where the first X amount of people who arrive only get them.

Thinking back to yesterdays game, other then two of the dumbest fouls committed (at the end of the game in the backcourt with a sizeable lead and time running out) in the history of Johnny hoops, I really have concerns over our lack of our depth at the guard position. While Wilcher had some great moments towards the end of the game, for a long stretch of the game his overall play was suspect at best. Had Pitino had any other options, I’m sure he would have given Wilcher a break but the reality was he had none.

As well as RJ played offensively, putting him on some of the quick Nova guards didn’t work out so well.

If Smith is out for any length of time, hopefully Glover can fill that gap at least defensively cause I don’t know who else coach can turn to.

Listen to Pitino at the Press Conference last night about how excited he was walking in Manhattan and being approached by fans enthusiasm recently!

Panther…65 years! You need to start showing some commitment :)

All kidding aside, Ayo is a fantastic depth guy for our current state. He’s a 10th or 11th guy ideally, but he doesn’t hurt us ever.

He hustles, defends, probably can hold his own rebounding, and can stick an open three and help spacing and movement.

If you age have to get someone rest around a media timeout, he can hold the line for a few minutes.
Most importantly, no ego and will be really happy supporting the guys while not playing much.

My guess in person 67-70% St. John’s fans but Nova won the pre game bar stuffing

This game had the best atmosphere I can remember in a long time. Lavins first year Pitt was my guess. Our fans got loud at the end

Better things coming and we are brining in past fans and building future fans

The buzz is most definitely real
I'd say it was on par with Michigan and UConn last year. Difference was, we won

So I am 74 and obviously we look at game commenting differently. I fully respect your right to post exactly the way you choose but IMO, you and others don’t reciprocate. Not sure the point of the board if everything is supposed to be just one way, regardless. We just disagree, which is fine.
