Love dk's observations about tonight's game. I differ, however, in that i think Dixon has an nba game with his 3 point shooting now. If Zuby develops his before leaving st john's he too might get a sniff in the NBA.

One game at a time, and can't get ahead of ourselves but we still have 4 games vs. UCONN and Marquette. Winning against a red hot Villanova at home was critical, but still very nice.

Pitino to me is brilliant. Up 9 with a little more than a minute to go, cosch inserts Lefty for Wilcher, who had fouled out. It was saying to Lefty, a little used frosh, "I have faith in you, keep your head and run the clock." Although game was likely in hand it gives Lefty a minute or so when Nova was likely going full blast to turn us over.

Neither has the ball handling and speed to keep up with top NBA power forwards

Respectfully beast, not sure how much props Rick deserves for that one haha. Smith was out, Jaiden’s shooting hand is injured. Pretty sure lefty was the only warm body we could put in at guard at that point lol

Sim played hard all game with youthful exuberance.😉
However, can't blame the fans because until the last 3 minutes or so, he was shooting 1-8 and 0-4 from three. He's been rushing some if his shots but I attribute that to the "Vince" influence.😜

The crowd was great. The game was great. Kudos to the kids for battling their tails off. When RJ is a threat from 3 he is a really difficult cover for the other team and great to see Scott see a few go through. Also Wilcher for all his struggles made two of the biggest plays of the game with the steal/layup and then a minute later with the jumper.

And Kadary as usual made a bunch of big plays down the stretch.

Fingers crossed that Smith isn't a long term thing.

All kidding aside, Ayo is a fantastic depth guy for our current state. He’s a 10th or 11th guy ideally, but he doesn’t hurt us ever.

He hustles, defends, probably can hold his own rebounding, and can stick an open three and help spacing and movement.

If you age have to get someone rest around a media timeout, he can hold the line for a few minutes.

I had a couple moments in the second half where the loudness of our fans took my breath away.

There was such a buzzkill vibe in there when nova took the lead early second half. Then we had this one push where Kadary got an and one to go, and then hit a midrange, the place was unreal after that.

It was like all of our fans were collectively like “oh shit we might win this” at the same time and it was electric from there
