Maybe for you but not for this Brooklyn kid, classes of '63 and'66. Too many good memories attached to it! Once a Redmen Always a RedmenGuys, realize that most of us are fossils (I’m class of ‘68), but Louie was the head of the committee that officially changed our name to Red Storm in June of 1994. We’re going on 21 years now, and it’s time it’s time to consign the Redmen name to the dustbins of history, along with the wooden cigar store Indian we used to lug around.
I have Verizon and whem programing a game in advance it always asks if I want to exend the recording 15 minutes 30 minutes etc and you click on how long you want to extend itSo my sister turned 70 and there was a dinner Saturday night. I DVR'd the game.
CBS Sportsnet, such b.s., so when I went to watch it, they had SH Providence instead for over ten minutes, and joined our game with about 7 minutes gone by and a 19-19 score.
Then I have to listen to Lappas talking about going to the 40th reunion of their 1985 team, he was an assistant to Rollie. Quietly rooting for Nova.
So the block I DVR'd was 7-9PM, but of course, these games go over, so instead of seeing the whole game it cuts off with 3 minutes to go and the score still very close.
I should have DVR'd for 7-9:30 PM, but not seeing the first 7 minutes stunk. I did not need to see the end of a bad SH-Providence game.
Leaving 2 hour blocks for the games is silly, they go at least 2:15 in most cases without OT.
I think Mahoney got the number 1 recruit in the country, Felipe Lopez.Mahoney first season w/SJU, Big East Coach of the Year and NCAA team.
Nova hoping for the latter in year 3.
Yes but he only lost 62.Mahoney in his three years at Manhattan combined won 16 games.
i agree. but this type of stuff is tradition at places like UCONN. it takes time and commitment from everyone. we don't have any tradition (that i can think of).I know this is sacrilegious but I feel like we have to get something like the U-C-O-N-N UConn UConn U chant after a big play. They overtake the Garden when they do that chant
That's another old time staple I could get behind, besides the fact that I am not St Johns in any way besides the team and this forum.but yeah, something, like, We are... St. John's!, would be great after a big play.
Well the Johnnies were up most of the time so the Nova fans were silent but when Nova went on their runs there was pretty sizable contingent of fans that were clearly heard.I've read 90/10, 85/15, but was it really 70/30?
Didn't sound like that on the t.v.
200s were definitely 70/30 Nova alsoWell the Johnnies were up most of the time so the Nova fans were silent but when Nova went on their runs there was pretty sizable contingent of fans that were clearly heard.
You are almost a fossil fuel by now ( I kid I kid ! ) we are right behind you. If we don’t start winning it’s going ti be SigEp Jack Williams and Matt C arguing to themselves arguing about their sciatica and heat inside CarnessecaGuys, realize that most of us are fossils (I’m class of ‘68),
That’s the one!!The appropriate chant was always "Here we go Redmen, here we go!"
It would be great if we modified that to "Red Storm".
I loved that chant. It energized our team and said to opponents, "We're coming, and you can't stop us."
I just assumed anyone NOT wearing red was a Nova fan200s were definitely 70/30 Nova also
Especially blue. Or a vestI just assumed anyone NOT wearing red was a Nova fan
It was a line. Not just guys who knew each other. Will watch for it tonight. Was it a line or something more impromptu. After the Xavier game, some players shook/slapped hands and the quick hug but it was out on the court, not a line and not organized.
