CMA's system is flawed because we don't play solid fundamental defense and we have no semblance of a half court offense when we can't score off a fast break. Yeah, what we do looks flashy and good from time to time and, on any given day, we can pull off an upset or two but it's a system that is doomed to fail over the long haul of a season.
The constant switching on defense often results in a mismatch in our opponent's favor and leads to an easy basket. We also generally commit more fouls than our opponents because of our gambling style of defensive play which gives them many more free throw opportunities than we get during the course of a game.
On offense, we don't value the basketball enough and commit way too many unforced turnovers. We also take way too many "circus" shots that have little or no chance of going in. We also miss an awful lot of point blank shots in the paint. Our free throw shooting is nothing to write home about either.
This team has talent that, if harnessed properly, should yield better results than we are seeing. The all access game was eye opening IMO. I couldn't understand what CMA was trying to convey to his players during the timeouts most of the time. After almost four years in the job and NO post season participation of any type, it's, unfortunately, time to strongly consider moving in another direction. CMA may be a nice guy but he's in a results oriented business and he's just not getting the desired results.
