Villanova (MSG), Fri., Jan. 20, 7p, FS-1

13,000 attendees - and if 65% were St. John's fans, that's still ~8,500 on SJU side. More than I would have expected for a game like this. If they hadn't beat UConn last week, SJU side attendance would probably be sub 5k.

If anyone is bored they can watch " The last of us on HBO tomorrow night ". It's the story of 20 years of crap St Johns basketball and a worn down disappearing fanbase and the quest of a few remaining st johns fans to cross the country through a zombie apocalypse in the quest to find a coach to save the program

I said we need a shooter(s) this year, and that we were going to miss the way teams keyed on Champagnie and how it opeiened the court for others. People said we'd make up for the loss of Champagnie by distributing his points amongst multiple players. It don't work that way. If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you genius
If Champagnie had been a clutrch shooter last year, we would have been in the NCAA's. We had better overall shooters on last years team. Yet Champagnie couldn't move the needle. If Champagnie was on this years team, he would have been constantly double teamed. He wouldn't have been able to handle that pressure (soft). Plus the double team would have opened up other shooters on this years team, who have proven that they cannot shoot. If you can't see that, I do know what to tell you, but I will be kind to a lesser intellect.

For posh and curbelo to get outplayed, or be ineffective, against that backcourt is a joke.

your post assumes that Posh and Curbelo are better college basketball players which is not necessarily true.

Soriano is the only player on the roster that could start on a majority of Big East teams.

Nova plays 6 guys and Dixon and Whitmore shot a combined 3-20 (and it's not like they had any great performances by anyone else) and we still lost by 8. SMDH

One other comment re: Jones…he definitely needed to be reprogrammed and kudos to Anderson for having the stones to sit a guy with his talent (very talented) but there needs to be a plan to get him back to where he should be instead of sending him out there for short stints where he is still playing 22 feet from basket. . .he should be in the post when Soriano is out (not Nywie) and, perhaps, running baseline or near the foul line when Soriano is in the game. . .he has a good nose for offensive rebounds and has good moves when he just reacts and doesn’t put the ball on the floor

Our offense was a disorganized mess! I don't blame Anderson for this loss as much as players like Posh and Curbelo who were supposed to be All-Big East quality point guards. Villanova sucks this year and to lose to them at the Garden really deflated the fans who traveled into the city to cheer them on.
It was a very long ride home on the railroad.
David Jones has turned into a liability every time he touches the ball. Seems completely out of the flow of the game.
Tonight I saw the laziest passes of the year.
It takes a lot to get this group cohesive.
Bitch as much as you want about CMA but his players let him down!!!
I agree. Let's give him another extension.

From what I recall Champaigne was not a reliable player. He was hit or miss also and not capable of taking over. The last real reliable baller we had was Ponds but he was also surrounded by lesser overall talent. Ponds made plays look very easy to him even when he was double teamed. Ponds was able to just take over a game if he wanted to. We don’t have any player of that caliber now but we do have players that try to take over the game on their own.
Champ was not exactly Mr Clutch, but he was Mr Consistent. And consistent 20PPG scorers/all Big East level players don't exactly grow on trees
