Villanova (MSG), Fri., Jan. 20, 7p, FS-1

“ Andre the Juggler ” shot 2/9 w 4 turnovers. It is nonsense to “take the good w the bad” w him, he breaks the rhythm and sensible play of the team more times than not.
Also 4 turnovers for Posh and 3 each for Wusu and Jones. Plus lets not forget Jones shot selection. This team is totally disjointed. After the game my wife said sorry they lost. I told her they deserved to lose.

the only thing that can make this season worse is if they retain CMA. The only thing that can be second to the worst thing is if Georgetown breaks their losing streak against us.

We did get two of the “jewels” of the portal, one a hot dog, who puts himself above the team and is all glitz over substance, and the other a guy who hunts stats and chooses launching ill timed threes over blue collar, baseline play
It’s the staffs responsibility to get these jewels to complement the team. They had the benefit of early practices with the Summer DR trip. Yet 20 games into the season we still look like 5 strangers on the court.

I hate to seem so fixated but neither Jones or Curbelo are “good”. Thry duck as bb players. They may have some skills and athleticism but are major negatives on a net basis. Paultz stated it perfectly above.
You are right and people who just want to blame the coach are doing a disservice to just how bad some of these players are.

God, I hate to say this but if that’s what gets the powers to be to fire Anderson, I’d be ok with it.

Wusu gets a nice pass and then doesn’t go up.
This was unfortunately the turning point of the game.

Hey Mike, how bout call a timeout and save your player who’s stuck in no mans land. We know you’re not gonna use them later to draw up good looks.

Obviously not, but at least we knew we had one player we could count on for 20 PPG. Had he stayed, we would have been significantly better this year IMO.
This year we have a center who gives us a double double every game. He's helping our record about as much as Champanie did last year. I guess next year you will be asking how many people miss Soriano.

From what I recall Champaigne was not a reliable player. He was hit or miss also and not capable of taking over. The last real reliable baller we had was Ponds but he was also surrounded by lesser overall talent. Ponds made plays look very easy to him even when he was double teamed. Ponds was able to just take over a game if he wanted to. We don’t have any player of that caliber now but we do have players that try to take over the game on their own.

Anderson is clueless. Waits too long to take time out then media time out is seconds later? The staf is awful.
A couple things. He definitely waited too long, but at that point would you really rather him compound it by waiting longer to take it and risk us having another shitty possession? I think calling it was the right call regardless of the upcoming media timeout. We needed to make sure we got a good look. BUT of course what we saw out of the timeout was more bull shit. So I guess, does it really even matter when he calls the TO?🤣

Our offense was a disorganized mess! I don't blame Anderson for this loss as much as players like Posh and Curbelo who were supposed to be All-Big East quality point guards. Villanova sucks this year and to lose to them at the Garden really deflated the fans who traveled into the city to cheer them on.
It was a very long ride home on the railroad.
David Jones has turned into a liability every time he touches the ball. Seems completely out of the flow of the game.
Tonight I saw the laziest passes of the year.
It takes a lot to get this group cohesive.
Bitch as much as you want about CMA but his players let him down!!!

Agree with those who have stated this is a low point.

I will give Mike Cragg credit for one thing, he got people in the door for this game. A great crowd (13,504) that was about 70/30 pro St. John's. But, it was utterly wasted. Not even a single run to spark some frenzy. As usual, Nova fans sat like church mice until they were absolutely sure the game was in hand. This was, yet another, lost opportunity to ignite some momentum for the program. And the worst part is not the loss. The worst part is the way we self-destructed. The turnovers, the air balls, the unrecognizable passes, and just plain old garbage basketball.

And, as I walked out of MSG to chants of "Let's Go Nova", I realized we are once again pathetic.

Lastly, make no mistake, that Nova team has a lot of issues. They did not impress me at all. This game was beyond winnable.
