Villanova Game

Dom stinks but we lost because our big three of harrison, sampson and jordan did not play well. They played their hearts out, but we needed one of them to step up, and none of them did.

On to xavier...

Hard fought game by the team. That bank 3pt shot by Arcidiacono was the killer in my opinion. Questionable walk call on Greene. I thought Uchefu walked on the other end when Villanova found him down low and we fouled him. Sanchez has been rebounding well lately and we missed him today especially at the when Villanova got 2 and 3 possessions at the end of the game by offensive rebounding.
I still think 22 wins is the magic number to guarantee us a spot in the NCAA Tourney. We have to either win our last three and one game in the Big East Tourney and win 2 or our last three and win 2 games in the big East Tourney. Either can be accomplished the way the team has been playing. I also think that this team makes a run in the Big East Tournament.
Payback against Xavier and then payback against DePaul. The team will be very motivated in those two games. The Marquette game is a crapshoot, hopefully we have their number.

Unfortunately Greene did walk. Watch the playback.

It's good to be good, and it's better to be lucky. Ryan A.'s bank shot 3 from straightaway was lucky.

Villanova controlling the ball for over a minute with the lead was good.

Greene's travel was horrible, but no way should Harrison deliver the ball to Greene in that possession, surrounded by trees. Also, Harrison's break to the basket when they needed a three wasn't exactly heady.

Give Lavin credit for loading up on 3 point shooters on the final possession, and then switching to rebounders with Harrison on the line.

Can't explain why Harrison gave a foul with 1.5 seconds remaining, down two and we needed a steal. Essentially ended the game

Yesterday, we had a little debate as to who should have the ball at the end, Jordan or Harrison. Today was an example why Jordan should have the ball.

What was wrong with the Harrison pass? It was a very good pass to a guy cutting to the basket. Down two points you take it up, either make it or get fouled. I have zero problem with Dlo making that pass.

Seriously time for Dom to look at other schools. There is no room on this team for a kid that watches all of his teammates hit the floor diving for loose balls. Is he kidding the way he walked to the ball under two minutes that Uchefu got off like two bounces? He is he not on the floor for that? Everyone was busting their asses today except him. Sickening. His effort and his IQ killed this team today. Four point swing on his moronic technical foul and we lose by three.
Lavin had the choice to play Gift over Dom. It's hard to believe w Sanchez out and COs bad ankle Gift got no burn. We lost because we didn't shoot well. On to Xavier. Well have Sanchez and CO. One game at a time still. I think if we beat them we will be in sole procession of 3 rd place.

Greene, our smallest player caught the call with his back to the basket and surrounded by three players. What could he possibly do besides kick it out or cough it up. He tried the former and succeeded in the latter.

This was a tough one to watch with so many missed shots at the rim down the stretch and key missed free throws.
But from what I've seen, at full strength, we are now the best team in the big east. I say bring it on at the Garden. We can definitely win the Bid East Tournament.

we have no right to the claim of "best team in the big east." please, stop.

Frankly I can claim whatever I like. Free country, remember? Anyway, I'm not claiming anything. I am saying that from what I see on the court, at full strength, we are the best team in the league right now and I believe we will see it in the tourney.

We split with Creighton and we just played Villanova to the last second without Sanchez and having Obekpa half lame much of the game. Who else is better than us? Look for the Johnnies in the BET Championship game!

we didn't lose because sanchez didnt play and obekpa was hobbled...

you can claim whatever u want but u come off as a huge homer. We're good, and a legit threat but Nova beat us twice and is 24-3. Creighton is better than us too.

I can't believe that stupid banked 3 pointer went in, and how the announcers were applauding him all game like he's the second coming of Michael Jordan. Disgusting.

Ehh he's a really good player, as annoying his game may be you have to give him his due

Not quite. Marquette 7-6, playing at DePaul now (though only up by 2 with 4 minutes left). If they win, they go to 8-6, which would be better then 9-7 (they don't play again until Thursday).

I do believe however, if we win out, we get third automatically, provided Providence also does not win out (and they still have to go to Creighton for the season finale).

I actually thought Harrison had a chance to first fake a shot and wait for the foul. Then face the basket for a layup rather then throwing it over his head. I can dream.

Mike, he didn't say that we lost because Sanchez was out and Obekpa was hobbled. He said that we are a better team if we have them. Can you really argue against that? Whether that makes us the best team in the Big East is up for debate. (Btw, right now, I think a legitimate case can be made).

Absolutely, especially when and if we meet Nova in the B.E. Tournament.

I would be very happy with a third place finish and a trip to the Big East semi's. I think we beat Nova if we play them again. Creighton scares me more. I think we can take the last three.

So Hilliard and Bell hurt us, as I mentioned yesterday. Not so much Arch... Got lucky on the banked 3. Ochefu traveled late before he was fouled. We needed a TO with 11 seconds to go. We've lost too many of these types of games this year and that could kill us tourney selection time.

tough, tough loss. The kids showed a ton of heart today. Every time Nova extended the lead to 6 or 8 we fought back. I didn't think Sheed played a terrible game today, he did force some of his drives but what do you expect from a freshman in his first game back home. The one thing that bothered me the most was that NO ONE crashed the boards on offense. I know we played a 3 guard lineup but I didn't see Dom Chris or Jakarr crashing the glass at all once a shot went up. A few offensive boards could have been the difference today. I don't think that we NEED to win out to get a bid. I think if we take care of business at home these next two, and get up to 10-8 a loss at Marquette shouldn't kill us. That said I think we win at least 1 game in the BET and possibly more to get us in. I don't think a loss to Marquette kills are chances. A loss in the first round in a few weeks and we are done.

there is absolutely no case to be made for us being the best big east team. We have ONE TOP 50 WIN. Our top players have come up small most of the time down the stretch against the better opponents. We are very talented, and have a very high ceiling, but to say we're better than creighton and nova is just pure comedy.

Id like to see your legitimate case....

I could swear you are Phil Greene's challenged little brother. Back to the basket? He was wide open on the baseline and traveled into the trees. Watch it back buddy you are dead wrong. That was an atrocious play that cost us the game. Need to make those plays in clutch moments

This board "kills" Sanchez when he stinks. We also give him his due props when he plays well.

And I agree that if those three had shot better than 14-40, it would have been a very different outcome. But they didn't. We'll never know if Obekpa at full strength or Sanchez in the game would have allowed those three to have better shot selection.
